Worst Miami Takes of the 2025 Season

My best take was financially ignoring the crestfallen deja vu of the SMU & Louisville losses & buying just thousands in UM gear for the first time in 20 years.

My worst take was all the post game **** talking I did after those games lol.

As I walked out of that SMU high school stadium in Dallas ...

Kinda wish we had our own 32k-seat high school stadium on (or near) campus ... emphasis on the "kinda" part

I honestly thought Pringle was going to take fletchers job mid season, boy was i wrong after that end year/playoff run.
We weren't even in the playoffs if it weren't for Pringle igniting our run game. It was stagnant until he came on.

Made me wonder if Fletch was banged up early on and needed the breather or if Pringle taking his job lit a fire

I was not sold on Fletcher. I thought Lyle was the back we sorely needed. Fletcher was a grown man in the playoffs. I also wanted Marion out since I thought he was so average

Even though I'm probably not alone... I'll 100% own this one. And I could not have been more wrong:

I doubted Mario re the transfer portal. I thought all the good QBs committed elsewhere. I thought we struck out with all of our options and that we'd have to start the season with Emory Williams at QB. Never thought for a second that a guy like Mensah would enter the portal at the 11th hour.

Talk about a bad take

1. Thought we needed Trader to have a big season;
2. Didn't think Marion would offer very much;
3. Thought the LB group would cost us dearly at some point;
4. Thought we'd lose at VT and Pitt to end the season (but I did say we'd beat ND, UF, FSU).

8-4. I legit thought we'd lose out November after the SMU debacle. Look man...Mario still frustrates the **** outta me with undisciplined ball and leaving tons of points on the field...but nothing will ever take away from this magical run especially with everyone counting us out.

and from a "control your own destiny" perspective, it absolutely was and remained so.

Our Canes, great run through the playoffs notwithstanding, made the playoffs for 3 reasons only:

- Miami dub dub over Notre Lame
- FSU (ACC) being left out of 4-team playoff previously
- Duke (and Canes new QB1 Mensah) beating UVA in ACC Championship, making the twisted and convoluted "case" that our Canes were ACC's "defacto champs" and therefore at-large selectee

Let's be thankful "they" justified the selection however "they" did, who cares, our Canes maximized their opportunity.

Again, however, it's ACC champs or bust for our Canes in Campaign 26. This is especially critical now that a Miami (any top team) contest against Notre Dame is all risk and no reward.

Miami wins, Notre Dame still qualifies because the poll will protect them [******* Irish] into Top 12 and autobid.

Miami loses, and it will be used as a crushing data point to keep our Canes outside the bracket unless they kick the door down wearing the ACC Champ's crown.
