WONDER WHO's REALLY RUNNING OUR D NOW?

Most executives are, by nature, extremely detail oriented and therefore tend to micromanage. One of the biggest lessons they have to learn is to delegate and trust their subordinates, otherwise they will be ineffective. Chain of command works both ways and I have often wondered if Al let doing things by the book, i.e., consensus views of good management practice, get in the way of taking over, micro-managing, and making things right on D. It is probably a much more difficult step than most of us appreciate, particularly given that he has a "trusted" adviser running his system. Next weekend will be telling but I am starting to get excited again.

Well if he has.. good, because things are looking batter. On top of that.. even better, his involvement and things looking better are a sign that NoD couldn't get it done and will be gone at the end of the season(imo). Whether or not Al is gone, DoNo leaving is a huge step in the right direction. If at the end of the season Al wants to say "I gassed my buddy so #Trending up!" then -

I think it had to do more with losing to GT. UL and Nebraska were bad enough, but a team with the caliber of athletes that Miami has, and the coaching experience against that offense, that both Golden and D'Onofrio have, should never lose to GT. They're just too one-dimensional. Whatever they were or weren't doing on defense allowed them to win, running the ball 65 out of 72 plays.

Al believed his our BS. I do think the banner opened his eyes to the fact that his multimillion $$ job and career was going down in flames. People finally stopped shooting at Mark and everyone started aiming at Al. It is different trying to defend yourself -- that is why an attorney who represents himself has a fool for a client. I have been saying this staff needs to be on a series of one week contracts. James needs to be walking around with a handful of pink strips of paper stinking out of his pocket. Nothing would even need to be said. We have to keep the pressure on Al. He needs to be angry, scared and wounded so he knows there is no more time for process or continuity, just time to kick *** and win. Prove us wrong Golden.

Could be. Johnson was the one coach Al thought he could beat. Losing to GT took the last safe place away.

Could be writing on the wall if Al has to watch over the defense. Maybe NoD was doing things Al didn't want. Maybe he was trying to change Al's D. The HC should not have to watch over any unit constantly. That's what you have coordinators for. Hopefully NoD is fired and Al brings in someone who can run his own defense without Al micromanaging. Let the new DC and Coley run their units.

Folden is a defensive mastermind. He could have stopped the bleeding at any point in this 4 year abortion.

Being ranked almost dead last in defense in prior years wasn't enough to motivate him to wave his magic wand over the defense. He chose now.

I think he waited a few years to run the defense at UVA too when he was DC there based on their statistical arch. He must have left the D at UVA to the DB or DL coach the first few years.

These guys have years of experience and earn millions of dollars to do their job, but they didn't change things until a banner flew over the stadium.

Yeah, that makes sense.

LOL, these guys make millions of dollars for 3.5 years and don't change a thing, banner flies, D changes... I see 2+2 = 5 for you.

I ****** hate when posters say "just win or whatever." Like okay you don't care, cool story bro.

Maybe the rest of us actually like to discuss the team? Since this is a you know UM sports discission forum

Total coincidence this started right after the banner flew. Total coincidence, Joe.

everything has changed since the banner......for the best

The banners are part of the process

I agree. Banner, media, petitions. In other words. tHE HEAT of all combined could've helped reach the boiling point. Not sure if Al was already sitting in those meetings before, but it was clear he wasn't in the offense meetings so one wonders. Regardless let's hope this fire in their eyes continues. Go canes!

No wonder the players cant pick up the defense. Look at how jumbled that dry erase board looks. Confusing as ****

That is one flimsy limb you just went out on. Amateur hour in Coral Gables is lasting too long. AG should have gotten "it" a long time ago, make the tough decisions or GTFOT

BTW not drinking koolaid until we beat a good team. I will drink a gallon IF we beat FSU
