With Hester, Sandland, Olsen how many total ships for 15?

As many as possible at this point. Our sanctions are worded favorably in that they dont apply to the 25 or over signing limit of 28, they only apply to the 85 number, and technically we only need to deduct 1 scholly this year, although that would not be prudent. So depending on what the staff wants to do we can sign as many as say 30. Before we lost Olsen I think we were already at 78 or somewhere around that. The most schollys we can apply to our penalty is 7 which we were already at being at 78. We must apply a tleast 1 scholly per year for three years for a total of 9.

The thing is the less we sign the more room we will have for the 2016 class, which at this point appears vastly superior than the 2015 class.

I have us at 75 this year with AQM still on board and Fentress on scholarship

15 leaving which includes Duke and Flowers

Attrition candidates
King
Moore
Crow
ODonnell

I assume we have exhausted most of our penalties this year so I say between 27-29

Bobby where did you hear about this rule that we must apply 1 Scholarship per year. I thought the NCAA stated that UM could apply them over 3 years which ever way they see fit.

Nah, it was clearly laid out when sanctions were handed down. Three years of scholly reductions, must take at least one per year. Still the fact remains we were given major flexibility here as it applied only to the 85 not per year amount, and we werent forced to take three a year.

sigh...

we still cannot sign more than 25(possibly 26, depending on whether or not Hester transferred before or after classes started...basically, whether or not he counts as an initial counter). we could then count an EE for the 2015 class towards the 2014 class, allowing us to sign 26

15.5.1.4 Cancellation of Aid. Once an individual becomes a counter in a head-count sport (see Bylaws 15.5.2, 15.5.4, 15.5.5, 15.5.6, 15.5.7 and 15.5.8), the individual normally continues as a counter for the remainder of the academic year. However, if he or she voluntarily withdraws from the team prior to the first day of classes or before the first contest of the season (whichever is earlier) and releases the institution from its obligation to provide financial aid, the individual no longer would be considered a counter (see Bylaws 15.5.2.2 and 15.5.6.4.1).

15.5.6.4.1 Voluntary Withdrawal. [FBS/FCS] An institution may replace a counter who voluntarily
withdraws from the football team by providing the financial aid to another student who already has enrolled
in the institution and is a member of the football squad. For this replacement to occur, the counter
must withdraw prior to the first day of classes or before the first game of the season, whichever is earlier,
and provide the institution with a signed statement releasing the institution from its obligation to provide
institutional financial aid and verifying the voluntary nature of the withdrawal. The institution may immediately
(beginning with the fall term) award the financial aid to a student-athlete who has been a member
of the team for at least one academic year and has not previously received athletically related financial aid.
A student-athlete who has not been a member of the team for at least one academic year may not receive
the financial aid during the fall term, but may receive it in a following term (e.g., spring semester, winter
quarter). (Revised: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)

Some of the guys we have committed will likely EE, like Jaquan Johnson. This would mean that they count towards the 2014 class, which Hester was apart of. So in theory, we could go over the 25 max limit.

How does EE work...if a student from 2016 come in early does that count go against 2015 or 2016...and if 2015 is maxed does that eliminate EEs for 2016?

Why not? You are allowed to actually sign 28 obviously not including any EEs, and have to have it figured out by May 31st I believe. Some of those can Grey Shirt. Not saying it is the way to go but it is an option. Also we signed 27 last year total, 6 were EEs that I believe counted towards the year before that.
