I believe this will be the last year that he will be available to be hired. He will be hired by someone after this season.

I listen to this channel pretty religiously and over the years Mike Leach, Rick Neuheisel, Gene Chidzik and Dan Hawkins have all been a major part of the various programs. None of them have been able to bring the insight that he has on coaching and building a successful program like he has. There are a ton of ADs and coaches that listen to these programs and Butch is the most clear, concise and articulate coach that I have heard on the program. No one on any of the shows even comes close to his pedigree. As a Canes fan, it's nice that he puts a personal touch on the program and brings great anecdotes. Lots of good stories from his Dallas Cowboys and Miami days. Rarely does he speak of his time at North Carolina but that may be to further separate himself from the events that occurred there before he was cleared. I'm not sure if UM will be his destination but he will be hired as either a DC or a HC by next spring. This guy is too valuable of an asset to a program to not be involved on some coaching level.

Yes, and whoever gets him will do very well.

UM dumbasses will probably remain - UM dumbasses.

He's 63 years old and has been out of coaching for 5 years. He was openly begging for the UM last year. Doesn't sound like anybody is banging down his door to hire him.

But will Butch provide more cogent insight than Randy did during his brief but stellar career as an "analyst" at eSECpn?

Part of the UNC problem is that UNC itself will try to veer the NCAA "investigators" towards anywhere but St. Roy and the Men's Basketball team, with the tacit support of the Tobacco Road ****** crew known as the ACC leadership. If that means throwing cancer survivor, and nearly 30 year Head Women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell ('94 National Title and two Final Fours) under the bus (as it is shaping up to be), then you know Butch's name will be dragged through the mud no matter how innocent he is in much of these administration-directed violations.

Two wishes: One, Marky Mark Emmert and his Funky Bunch, after having their noses blooded so much, decide to pull another Pedo St. rewind on UNC and say they have "suffered enough." Yeah, Yeah, sure didn't do it with Miami, but UNC is a state school, one who tried to get Emmert to come take over their presidency; Emmert's ego is Grand Canyon-sized, so he will remember the stroking and probably go easy.

The second wish is much harder and why I would tolerate the first, even though UNC SHOULD be punished for something much more serious than Boats 'N Hoes...That Frenk, sensing the UNC penalty is minimal, will show his competitiveness and willingness to take chances to pursue excellence campus-wide: He hires Butch back and also hires a savvy AD to run interferance; then Frenk gets his *** out of the way to let them work.

My Birthday is January, I'll get two cakes...

You aren't afraid to dream my friend.

1. Frenk was a horrible hire and he doesn't give a rats *** about American sports.

2. This is The University of Miami and they could give a rats *** about anything except the Medical hospital.

Put a fork in him - Butch is done. Unless he pulls a **** Vermeil, don't see coaches out for 5 years come back. His NC issues and John Blake hire apparently sealed his fate. Best gig now will be radio/TV.

Yeah. We're Johns Hopkins South. (LOL at this school ever getting organized enough to be close to Hopkins')

First things first. LatinCane C'mon man...that devil-doll of yours has been creeping me out for close to ten years now (LOL) . What if we took up a collection for a Tickle-Me-Elmo doll or a Barbie..or something else?

Seriously though....word is that for Butch to get back to Coral Gables it would be one of The Twelve labors of Hercules . He ruffled more than a few feathers with his manner of exit. There are some coaches who Al Golden could have brought aboard without breaking the bank. Guys such as Jeff Jagozdinski ,excellent QB coach and pretty good O.C.. remember when he was at B.C.
Then there's Steve Logan (my personal favorite) who's currently doing radio in North Carolina. The guy can flat-out coach QB's and is one **** of an O.C. It was he at the helm when East Carolina upset Butch in a monumental game. I still shake my head over that one.

My point is ..there were/are plenty of good coaches to be had who don't cost an arm and a leg. Bring in any of the above guys and give him an "Assist-C.O " title under Coley and the offense is set. As for Defense ..dammit...ANYONE...even Tyronne Nix (wherever he is now) would be better than Al's best buddy.

That was rich. In 100 years we still won't be mentioned in the same breath as Hopkins academically and that's just undergrad- don't even waste your time bringing their medical school into the discussion. That's fine too. They have one of the ugliest/dorkiest student bodies that you'll find.

If UM doesn't hire Butch, I do hope another ACC team does hire him.

And I hope just like at UNC, he wipes the floor with UM every frikkin' year until he retires.

Do you think that the NCAA ended up giving Miami softer sanctions bc of how they handled the investigation ie - the NCAA broke the law?
- You have to answer yes and if so, they are itching to hit us again.

Butch was a great recruiter however you cant keep "poking the bear (NCAA)"

Butch David is great on Sirius, but he's nowhere near as good as Newweasel. Newweasel is a star when it comes to radio. And Neweasel has been on there 2 years and is still broadcasting not coaching.

It was funny hearing UM fans call in the other day begging Butch David to come back to UM. He was clearly uncomfortable talking about it and even said "I have a policy that I don't talk about jobs that aren't open and Al Golden is doing a very good job there and they should have a very good season."

Unfortunate that he felt some backlash for his comments a few months ago when he was campaigning for the UM job in the press. Now he feels like he has to take the high road and lie.

The ncaa is a shell of what it used to be, and it'll likely be completely neutered soon as the Power 5 take total control of college football and regulating themselves.

The embarrassment of their corrupt fake investigation of UM pretty much spelled the end of that aspect of the ncaa. How many teams have they gone after hard since our case?

I agree - they are a shell of what they use to be ... and that probably makes them even scarier

And to answer your question - May 2015 NCAA cites North Carolina for lack of Institutional Control ..... you kinda walked into that one

I don't think you comprehend what a "shell" is.
