Winning The Coastal In 2017

View as article
I think the most important thing about special teams this year is getting all those starters off the kickoff/punt/return units. I've never seen so many starters playing ST before. The backups need to step the **** up and make **** happen on ST. The amount of starters playing ST definitely needs to decrease.

ALOT of coaches like to have starters on special teams. Not a big deal.

True. Flubberneck built his Beamer Ball rep on that.

It's still the goal, and IMO always the minimum criteria for a successful season.

So, how will we do it? Can we?

VT and UNC will be better, I can't see Fuente regressing and he took over a program in decline and went to the ACC CG. Fedora is a clown, I stand by that, but they have to be as good or better, 2016 was a rebuilding year.

I assume we have to be much better offensively in 2017, have much better playcalling, even assuming rightly that our D is better,

We have Free Shoes, which arguably puts us one game in the hole. (Playing them in Tallahassee, with a freshman QB, and they will be better, and have an experienced QB albeit without Cook). Even if we win, we still have to beat VT and UNC, and not slip up against the other Coastal clowns.

VT at home, at UNC. Two game schedule for the Coastal. (If @Pitt is a question mark, we aren't Coastal Champ material).

How do we do it? Can we?

I'd say again our big "Next Year's Class" needs a Coastal Championship as a prerequisite.

UNC and Va Tech lose a lot of firepower. We have no excuse losing to any team but FSU.

Period

And not even then

Takes a certain kind of special, despite all of the good news in the program right now, to hypothesize about losses months in advance and then follow-up to those hypothetical losses with what should happen to our coach if those losses happen. Mark Richt is not Al Golden. Repeat it over and over and eventually you can rid yourself of the doom and gloom that has affected some of you.

Richt came here to win, win big, and win for a decade plus. We will win a national championship by the 2020-2021 season. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks, most of you. The ones who personally attack me for even questioning our evidently locked in 2017 Coastal Championship, 11-1 season and playoffs..............( and the "Next Years NSD National Championship", and the "Spring Game NC", we have won for 15 years straight)

LOL! The same tough talkers who supported Radio and Folden year after year.

FSU is NOT the game that killed EVERY Coastal run he had. It was losing to VT, UNC and GT and the rest. Show me a 6-1 season where we lost to FSU and then lost the Coastal.

UNC WAS a rebuilding year in 2016. They sucked. VT was a 6 -6 program the last 4 years, with a brain dead beamer, on a slide, one QB didnt make the difference, Fuente did.

"Easy Schedule". So was 2016. 8 wins, and we played ONE legitimate top 20 team.

ANYONE who claims we don't have 3 losses at best is taking the pot. We have to beat UNC and VT to even get in the Coastal mix. My question was, can we?

Just fire the fūck out of him and start over again. Excellent strategy. Sound thinking.

You are one brilliant motherfūcker. So, genius, who would you recommend as our next coach?

If Richt doesn't win the Coastal this year that means that he'll have won 2 division titles in the last 12 years. While coaching in 2 unbelievably bad divisions. (The SEC East and ACC Coastal)

I don't know who I'd hire. But I'd search for a coach who can win divisions at a higher rate than that.

If the acc coastal is weak as you think it may be and richt can't win it then yea, you may have a point but I don't know if I'd go as far as firing him. A lot of it rides on how Miami's qb performs and if his play in hinder'd or enhanced by richt via play calling/ game planning/ scheme etc.

He clearly won't get fired, so it's stupid to even think about it or discuss it.

But I get the gist of what Cane707 is saying. He'll know Rick isn't a championship level HC if he can't win the Coastal this year, and we'll likely just be trudging along at 9 or 10 wins per season with the occasional Coastal title as long as he's HC. He's saying that's not good enough, and he'd just move on right away instead of trudging along.

Agree. He's not gonna get fired. Doesn't deserve it IMO. At this point. We'll see how he manages this qb situation. That will tell alot

I don't think he is going to get fired, but I do believe some of the wind in the program's sails will be out. We have the talent to not lose to anyone in the coastal. There is a huge difference between players from Georgia and South Florida. I believe that alone will do things we haven't seen in a decade. Players are savages! I do believe they will go back to where the run the program like back in the day. We may lose a game because of our qb issue, but we should not lose many.

Fact: Fuente and Fedora did more with less compared to CMR last season. Assuming they will be better, or at least the same, how is it a given that we win the Coastal?

I call a ban for any clown who is bragging about our great season in 2017, the shoe in easy schedule, then resorts to "Freshman Quarterback, wait till 2018! CMR will have HIS players then!"

Nothing I've seen here makes a argument that compels me to believe we beat VT, UNC and the rest of the garbage Coastal.

If we lose to VT and UNC, upset FSU, finish second in the Coastal with a 6-2 record, but still get an at large BCS bowl bid, and win the BCS bowl, finishing 11-2 and in the top 10...That's a successful season.

So what exactly is your point?

You don't think we're going to win the Coastal? All you've done is make a bunch of threads asking rhetorical questions...

You're asking fans if they think we're going to win the Coastal, even though it's April & none of us have any idea as to how the team is going to look come August.

What kind of response did you expect? What's your whole end game in even drumming up the questions this early in the year?

Is this a classic, "I told you I was right" scenario where you basically predict that we'll suck & then come October if the season hasn't gone the way people hope, you think you'll get credit for being "early" to the doom & gloom party?

Listen, you're allowed to think & believe whatever you want, but don't get all ****y because others don't feel the same.

No one knows if we're going to win the Coastal, not even Richt, we just all hope we do... So again, what exactly are you looking for with these great threads you keep starting?
