Winning is REALLY hard

This team stinks.

Win the acc. That’s the ceiling.
We don't stink, but we are not elite for sure. Too many problem areas. Yes, we did stink it up tonight for the most part. If Mensah played like he has all season, we win going away.

Are we the best team in CFB? I don't think so, but I don't know is the clear best team. We can beat anybody. We can also lose to several teams. We still have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Rough night for sure, but we survived. This might be the year for some of the worst football. Not only are there no elite teams, but there are also no really good teams. Just a handful of good teams, and we are one of them.

Never underestimate the heart of a champion. Last year Indiana had no business needing a miracle toe tap in the back of the end zone against a team that lost their coach.

The resiliency and heart of this team is big. After we screwed up that 4th down early in the 4th, we lost all momentum. We could have easily folded and just said this isn’t our day. But they clawed their way out of that abyss and found a way to win. Plenty of things to fix. But I won’t be sad about being #1!

Kind of exactly where you wanna be at the halfway pole, no?

It’s October 17th. Wanna know how many undefeated teams there are in the P4?

Five.

And one is on the the ropes as we speak to ******* Colorado.

I’ll take it.

We can’t beat “anybody”. That is a totally fake reality. We have no prayer currently of winning against any team that has dudes up front (playoff football). Need to start accepting reality there… I don’t care who lost today. We don’t have dudes up front like we did last year. That isn’t changing in week 7 coming off a bye.

It’s funny…

As I was tailgating today I almost forgot we were playing fsu. I, too, let it get to my head (all while knowing we have warts - who doesn’t!).

In all my years at an fsu game… I’ve never felt that way - where it didn’t even feel like we were playing our nemesis and this was actually a threat.

It looks like our team played the same way. I sure as **** know 99% of our fans felt the same way I did before the game.

Glad we survived and earned that dub. This will only help moving forward. Onto the next!

We aren't beating "anybody" if we keep playing like we did tonight. We played one of our worst games and did just enough to survive a terrible FSU team. I have some serious concerns. It's not all sunshine and flowers for me. However, I also look around the rest of college football and don't see any scary good teams.

I agree with you though, we aren't beating ND, UGA, BYU, and a handful of other teams if we don't fix our issues. Our only saving grace this year is every team has a lot of flaws. No teams this year would make the playoffs in 2023, '22, '21 if there was a 12-team playoff those years.

I rarely make threads on gameday but I’m hoping this calms some folks down. Maybe not tonight, but tomorrow. We’re all emotional, that’s normal. We all wanna kill everyone, especially FSU. That’s normal.

But winning is really hard, every single week. Don’t believe me? Go to a UGA board. Go to a ND board. Go to an Indiana board. Go to a Bama board (good luck there). Go to a Texas board. Think any of those dudes would take a double OT win tonight? Me thinks so.

Remember boys and girls, the best team OF ALL TIME needed Mike Rumph’s knee and Earnest Wilford’s butterfingers to win all their games. TWO DIFFERENT GAMES, were basically 1 bounce from going the wrong way. And that was the best team ever with 500 NFL Hall of Famers. It’s **** hard to win every single time you play. When you’re Miami, and you’re a Top 5 team, you get everyone’s best shot. Every week. A team can make their whole season just by beating you.

But you know what? 6 teams have tried this year. NONE have.

I’m not saying have zero concerns. I’m not saying plan a parade. We have a long way to go. But winning every single game is hard as ****. That’s not a cliche. There’s a reason almost nobody does it every year. Indiana is the only team who did last year. How’d that Penn state game for them? Penn state was ***. They needed a borderline miracle catch. We were 1 drive from beating them. But they won, because that’s what good teams do. We have a really good football team. ****, Taint won a natty two years ago and lost TWICE. It’s not 1993 anymore.

And just remember, as cranky as you might be tonight, when you wake up tomorrow, your Miami Hurricanes are the #1 team in America. The last time we could say that? December of 2002. 2002! 24 years ago. Many of yall weren’t even alive, I’m sure.

Acknowledge that we have things to fix. That’s cool. But also, we get 12 of these a year. We wait 353 days a year, to be able to do this for 12 of them. I’ll be damned if I mope and kick my dog after we win.

Celebrate this team. We’ve come a LONG way since the myriad embarrassing loses we’ve had in the last 24 years. We have a long way to go. But we’re the AP #1 team in America. Go watch film, practice, and get better. But love that we won. Because it’s ******* hard to do week after week after week.

Go Canes.

1-0.

Do it again next week.
Excellent post, brother!

Do we have things to work on? Most definitely. But so do all of the other teams across CFB.

Were we outplayed during large portions of this game? Yes. But our M.A.S.H. unit of a team showed great mental toughness once again. That is an incredibly important trait for any team that aspires to win a Natty.

Was the play calling on both sides of the ball head scratching for large parts of the game? Yes. But when it mattered the most, both coordinators called plays that helped our dudes get the W.

As Mario says on a weekly basis, we are not there yet. But I like the grit and mental toughness that I’m seeing. Mali, Bryce and Fletcher all playing hurt and gutting it out while making big time plays shows that this Canes squad has great character and the heart of a lion.

While the fanbases for Texas, Jawja, Baga, Indiana, and the Leprechauns are jumping off of buildings and bridges tonight, we are still 1-0 every week this season. In this day and age, and with our numerous injuries to key players, that is something to be proud of.

You reckon UGA fans still think they’re elite after what happened to them today? Everyone had them the consensus top team in the country. It’s wide open this year, nobody is dominant. We can win it all.

I doubt UGA fans think they are elite after they lost today. I think most college football fans realize there are no elite teams this year.

Yes, its 100% wide open this year and we can win it all. I'm not even sure we need our A game to win it all, but we definitely aren't winning it all if we play like we did tonight.

Its more frustrating knowing that compared to us, these other teams losses don't mean anything and they'll barely drop in the rankings if they even drop at all, and they'll all be in the playoffs, while we have to play to perfection just to be considered.

And you think Alabama would beat us scoring only 10 points and turning the ball over four times? Georgia turned the ball over four times as well and lost to Byrum Brown

We don’t have to be elite. Just need to beat the team across from us.

That’s the assignment. That’s it.

Nope, I don't think Bama would beat us if they had 4 turnovers and only scored 10 points.

I'm saying if we play like we did tonight (our D game, not quite F), we aren't beating a handful of other good teams, assuming they don't also play their D/F game.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. A lot of film to learn from. Shows you important Poyser is to that defense on the backend. They were lost in coverage without him.

We are easily the best team in the country right now still. We have a lot to clean up. Dawson called a **** pooor game and so did Hetherman but he got a little strapped with Poyser out. I was not a fan of his coverage tonight and he got caught every time in the screen.

lol you know nothing about football if you believe that and to base that off of this one game is jumping to an absurd conclusion.

@Allabouttheu95 what top defense is out there that didn’t get exposed in some manner this weekend? BYU? Utah? They just won a nailbiter with Colorado. ND made to look average by an unathletic BYU offense with 1 speed demon on offense and a solid running game. OSU looked mid and against a very mid Indiana team and they are without their QB.. Georgia lost to a terrible Auburn team. Bama lost to the most overrated Tennessee team in the country. And so on down the line..

Poyser being out really hurt the defense the DBs were all out of place in coverage without his communication. Lucas was rusty. Dunnegan was banged up. But Hetherman was playing that soft cover 3 zone all game and his blitz packages got challenged by FSU screens on multiple occasions that will not happen again.

Our Oline needs resolution fast but I need to rewatch the fillm and deep dive to see what FSU did exactly that was disruptive and who was actually in the game.

This is still be far the best team in the county. And when healthy we are the title contenders!
