Winning is REALLY hard

Man I remember the days of Al Golden, 58-0 to Clemson, then the end of the Richt Era in 2018 where we lost to UVA, Manny in 2019 losing to FIU, Duke, and getting shutout by LA Tech to finish that year, then the next year UNC running over us. MTSU, 2023 GT, and so on.

I just want to be relevant, to be a team that isn't a laughingstock, and we have that right now. I'd rather be us than Texas, I'll say that much.

Let’s all just admit it. We were all stroking ourselves way too hard leading up to this game. Pretty sure the team did as well. That being said, this kind of adversity is good for us. We needed a game where we got woke up. Mensah seems a little too overconfident, maybe this sends him back to earth and gets him realizing he’s gotta bring it 100% every single snap. I’ll be deadass honest, I didn’t like his demeanor after that bad interception. I understand you never wanna get too down over one bad play, but he was totally nonchalant about it. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Not good, that’s for sure. I was also surprised that we didn’t make that many defensive adjustments in this game. We got caught with our pants down on 3rd down way too many times. Then after we went ahead 28-21, Heatherman dials up a safety blitz on first down and we leave Lucas 1 on 1 with Robinson. He toasts him and scores. That’s not a situation Lucas needed to be in, in his first game back from injury. I just didn’t get that defensive playcall in that moment.

All in all, we won an absolute thriller against our hated rival, they’re crying bitter tears saying the refs gave it to us, the talking heads are all spinning because chances are, their favorite team **** the bed today. Miami almost did, but you know what they say.. “almost” only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

1-0. 🟧🙌🟩
