Winning 8-9 games is the nightmare scenario for this season

We can only fairly judge him by what he does next year.

Holy **** what is wrong with these ******s? How can they expect him to do any different than what he's shown already?

How about winning coastal and playing for a conference championship? Down right Wes Craven type stuff for some of you.

Playoff team? Get ready for the zombie apocalypse around here.

In our coach's 5 year in the program, playing in the weakest division in a power 5 conference, playing our toughest OOC game (Nebraska) at home, playing Clemson at home, playing the two favorites in our division (GT and VT) at home, there simply isn't any reason for us not to win 10 games. Do I think that's going to happen - absolutely not, given the mediocrity we've seen in the last 4 years - but there is simply no reason that it should not happen.

Also, winning the Coastal is a joke of a goal for this team and for Miami in general. Are Clemson and FSU going to be good teams? Yes. Are they likely to be elite? No. So why can't the standard at the University of Miami be to win our conference? I of course want the standard to be national championships, like it was not too long ago, but if we're going to lower the bar, that's as low as I'm willing to go when I gauge how successful our season has been. Despite how mediocre we've been recently, you cannot convince me that we should not expect to beat FSU and Clemson in a championship game for our conference- except that I know how inept our coaching staff has been. Honestly, if we win 10 games, win the Coastal and lose to FSU or Clemson, I'm not going to be happy, because this isn't the NBA, MLB or NFL, where division banners mean anything. Win the ACC or GTFO.

"Realistically, talking to people down there, [they're saying] 'Boy, we hope we can survive this season because we think we're gonna be really good next year.''

Wow.

Fresh off the most disappointing year in modern Hurricanes history, Golden and his underlings are already trying to buy themselves another season. 2015 hasn't even started yet and they're firing up the "we'll be really good next year, guys, promise!" train.

Someone at Miami has to step up and put an end to this madness.

I don't know who Dave was talking to, but they shouldn't be allowed to procreate when they come back to planet Earth.

I've said it before but 8 wins(8-5 with a L in a bowl imo) should be enough for the administration to at least question his tenure as a coach.
"8 wins is two more than last year, he did a great job."-Blake James
"8 wins on a team with this much talent? Send his a** packing!" -Smart booster

If we win 9, which I think we will, he's here to stay unfortunately. Kaaya is going to save him.

I would be happy with a new coach.

8 wins is a barren wasteland.

9 wins is just treading water.

I would be happy with 10 wins and an ACCCG appearance.

Pretty sad that UM fans are happy with an ACCCG appearance in a HC's 5th year. Ouch we've fallen apart as a fan base.

Just being realistic. I would be happy with it. There is a much better chance the team is bowl ineligible than in the ACCCG at the end of the year.

I don't give a **** if Golden wins 10 games if he is 0-5 vs FSU. Back then you get fired for not beating your Rival bc you lose recruits that way.

8 is the nightmare. 9-10 and the confidence men running this program may be able to con their way into another offer (which Golden would jump all over). 5-7 and the Admin has no choice but to fire him. 8, however...

That also but I do think we beat FSU this year and win 9 games which will most definitely save him. The only way he's fired with 9 wins is if he keeps sitting talented players, there's no player development, or he ****es off the players/Blake James.

You sound like the kind of guy who if your wife sucked off 4 other guys per week you'd be happy if she cut down to 2.

Nebraska, a program with nowhere near the recruiting base that we have, fired its HC for winning 9 games every year he was there. Yet UM and the clown fans are willing to keep this fat maggot around for winning 9 a couple times and 6 a couple times.

The biggest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing this fanbase that Al Golden would be fired after an 8 win season.

Remember this phrase because you'll hear it from Flake (with a bunch of other crap recycled from this summer) regarding why no changes were made after 8 wins- "You've got to put that number in context...".

Some of you people are truly on crack. We win 5 at best. Take a look at the schedule, how we finished last year, who the coach is, and the fact that we cant win big or road games. Follow the yellow brick road and keep singing that tune. Tell me when you hit the apple trees that talk. Then you know you're in fantasy land.

What are your expectations for the season? A BCS bowl?

It isn't going to happen with Golden. No way this team wins more than 7 games. I've wanted Golden fired since the Louisville bowl loss. It hasn't happened and nothing from Blake and the BOT makes me think they are canning Golden if he is bowl eligible. I think he wins 3 OOC games and goes 4-4 in conference games at best.

If somehow, Golden were to go 7-1 in conference play, I would be happy with the results. It isn't what I expect.

This is pretty much it. A lot of it hinges on FSU and how Miami responds after a loss, or even a win. Winning only 8 games isn't going to get us to the ACCCG either. GT barring injury will likely get in first even if we do beat them.

I don't know why this made me laugh so much. I actually expect to be sitting somewhere, at some point, during the season, listening to talking apple trees.
