Win and we’re in

Many of you are overthinking this. We win the ACC, we are in the playoffs. Clemson lost to 4-8 Syracuse. We lost to 5-7 Pittsburgh. We are two very good teams with a terrible loss. Welcome to College Football.

If we lose

1) SEC Champ - Auburn or UGA
2) Oklahoma if they win
3) Clemson if they win
4) BIG Champ - Wisconsin or Ohio State

5) Alabama

If we win and Oklahoma wins

1) SEC Champ - Auburn or UGA
2) Oklahoma if they win
3) BIG Champ - Wisconsin or Ohio State
4) Alabama

If we win and Oklahoma loses

1) SEC Champ - Auburn or UGA
2) BIG Champ - Wisconsin or Ohio State
3) Alabama
4) Miami

We need Oklahoma to lose as I don't see a 2 loss TCU team jumping us. The winner of the SEC will get in no matter what. If Clemson and Wisconsin win they will be in no matter what. I think a 2 loss Ohio State gets in ahead of us and so does a 1 loss Alabama. I sure hope I am wrong.

If we win the ACC I think we're in regardless. Both Miami and Alabaga would have one loss but we would be conference champions, which is supposed to hold weight in the committee's eyes. The only way Alabaga gets is if TCU beats Oklahoma.

They'd be the #3 finisher in the SEC.

It's insane they'd be in. They just got eliminated.

The only criteria is the committee thinks you are one of top 4 schools. The narrative for 3 weeks has been that a 2 loss OSU gets in if they win. Wisconsin deserves in if they win. A SEC Champ is in regardless. Oklahoma is in if they win. (Everyone loves their QB). After Auburn crushes UGA, watch how the talk of Alabama heats up. At the end of the day the decision is between Miami and Alabama, and I just don't see them choosing us. If we are choosen than the narrative that the NCAA hates us is completely false.

Bama's resume sucks if they actually care about resume.

Miami would have 2 top 10 wins, including a win over #1 Clemson and a conference championship.
Bama would have 0 top 10 wins, no conference championship.

Should be a no brainer but its Bama.

I don't disagree about Bama's resume. I just don't think the CFPC is going to value the SEC West the same as our fans do.

That was before they needed to make room for Bama. It will go from quality wins to quality losses now that Bama has no quality wins, but a quality loss.

IN:
ACC Champion - Miami or Clemson
SEC Champion - Auburn or Georgia

Auburn has two losses but beat the #1 team twice in three weeks, and beat a top 6 UGA in a rematch. This tops Ohio State. If Georgia beats Auburn and the Buckeyes win OSU could get in as Big 10 Champion, despite two losses. If a two loss team is selected, it will be Auburn OR Ohio State, not both.

THEN:
Big 12 Champion - Oklahoma in if they win
Big 10 Champion - Wisconsin in if they win

A TCU upset of Oklahoma eliminates the Big 12. This opens the door for a 1-loss Alabama team if Wisconsin wins.

Clemson will likely be no. 1 assuming they win this week, if miami were to beat the no. 1 team in land and win the acc title, to leave them out of playoff would be ridiculous. I agree with those that say "miami wins against clemson, they are in." It makes total sense.

Go CANES!

This scenario actually is playing out in a way that will be fairly simple IMO. Most of these spots are already guaranteed.

The SEC and ACC CG's are play in games. Auburn / Georgia and us / Clemson - winners are in, losers are out. Period.

Wisconsin is in if they beat OSU.

Oklahoma is in if they beat TCU.

The only thing that makes this complicated is if Wisconsin loses the B1G CG, or if Oklahoma chokes in the Big XII CG.

If one loses...Bama's in. If they both lose....Bama and who? That would be an interesting scenario. My guess, if OSU beats Wisconsin and TCU beats Oklahoma, OSU somehow sneaks in with Bama.

My attempt at a prediction for the final four:

1. Oklahoma
2. Wisconsin
3. Georgia
4. Miami

I didn't read through the whole post, but there's a real doubt that we get in if it's between us and Bama. Heard a commentator on another game say, doesn't Bama deserve the benefit of a doubt and I fear there's still so many haters out there that we get screwed like we did when FSU played Oklahoma.

I know the ACC Champion should get in and we would have 2 really good wins, but I don't want our fate in Hocutt's hands. He left here so quick it was scary. I can come up with so many good arguments (Bama fatigue, ACC Champion (presumably), 2 great wins, Strength of Schedule, new blood), but I'm really scared. Of course, UM has to play light years better to beat Clemson who's pasting South Carolina right now.

The committee values the ACC over the Big 12

If anything a one loss Oklahoma would get left out over a one loss Miami

This guy gets it.

They'll change the narrative on Alabama. I've already heard it several times. How can a team be #1 pretty much the entire year, lose on the road to a team that's in the top 4 and fallout of the playoff altogether.

DMoney how will we get Rosier prepared for the ACC Championship game? He has been shakey for long stretches and came apart against a terrible Pitt team.

No, you're making this too complicated.

The winner of the ACC will be in the playoffs, period. Clemson is probably #1 now. They ain't leaving Clemson out if they win. They ain't leaving UM out if we beat Clemson.

This. Be prepared for “eye test” to suddenly become an important criteria to the playoff committee if we manage to beat Clemson. I can hear it now: “Alabama passed the eye test all year long. One loss against a really good Auburn team doesn’t change that...”

Oh I completely agree. The winner SHOULD be in. However, if we beat Clemson and Wisconsin beats OSU, it could get dicey. OU will be in. Wisconsin will be in. Auburn or Georgia will be in. The last spot would be between us and Bama, and I have ZERO faith in the committee doing the right thing. Obviously, we should be in, especially if Auburn wins and gets in. We would have beaten the team that beat them, and that should mean something. We'd have a win over #1 Clemson in the ACC title game. What else can we do? We'd have something on our resume that Alabama doesn't, but they are Alabama. There was no logical reason for them to be #1 , since they had no quality wins all year. They were, though. So I am to assume now the same committee that voted them #1 with no good wins will all of a sudden turn on them?
