Willie Moise (going to Coastal Carolina)

Like a few other cats said earlier, OL or DT, it doesn't matter. He's a kid that's gonna make us better in the interior trenches on either side. I believe the kid can be a Day 1-2 OG if he maximizes his potential but he's definitely not chopped liver as a 3-Tech. I'm happy af for Moise as it seems like he's gonna ultimately accomplish his goal of being a Cane. His qualifying ordeal definitely indicated that he's a kid determined to persevere through difficult situations. A quality that will serve himself & the team well...

So, prep or grayshirt.

It still uses one of our 2021-2022 IC slots. So now we have 23 slots for HS seniors/JuCos/Transfers.

Question, couldn't we borrow a 2022 to get another late 2021 kid or two as we did this year with Williams and get 2021 back to 25? Yes, you are borrowing the future, but in a couple of years we should be up against the 85 and have less than a 25 kid class anyway. At that point wouldn't the "loan expire?"

He will be at Miami starting January. Will be doing rehab until then. Also, Stroud has been doing most of the communication With Edgewater so it sounds like he’ll be playing the DT.

Grade rehab or physical rehab?

The future, as with our past, depends completely on attrition.

In a 5-year time period, you can sign 125 kids. Team limit is 85. That allows for 40 attrition spots, or 8 per year (over 5 years).

Thus, if you lose more than 8 per year for any reason (including early graduation), it becomes very hard to get to 85 under the 25 per year limit.

Look at some of our "senior" classes. Less than 17 players. No bueno.

As I have mentioned previously:

1. Normal fall enrollees cannot "count forward", they have to count for THAT academic year (which is August-July).
2. Spring/summer enrollees can be CALLED "count forward" if you like, but they really are just showing up early. They count for the same academic year they counted for 20 years ago (the upcoming academic year beginning in August), when spring/summer enrollees were rare.
3. The only REAL "count forward" is a blueshirt. Grayshirts are just the same as spring/summer enrollees.
4. Blueshirts require no official recruitment, as well as the non-signing of an LOI/FAA. We can dream about all the loopholes in the world, but blueshirting remains rare, and only certain kinds of players/situations really fit the blueshirt rules.

If you're not getting Tristan Leigh or Marcus Tate, ya, best move is to somehow get Willie Moise here in the spring and count'em for 2021. Outside of those two, idk if there is a better OL prospect than Moise on our board rn.
There are plenty of better OL prospects we can target better than Moise.
