Willie dropped all the way down to the level of ball I played in, NAIA - think that's where his eligibility ended. Tragic that just about every program has their WW stories.

From a 2014 Jeff Pearlman article on WW:

"You want to talk about how one of the nation’s top high school football recruits in 2004—a kid labeled “the next Lawrence Taylor” sans hyperbole—went from wearing uniform No. 17 for the Miami Hurricanes to uniform number 253203 inside the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.

If only Willie Williams, 19 years old and assured of a million-dollar future, hadn’t agreed to the recruiting diary, where would he be right now?

Shannon screwed him up...His SATs in HS were outstanding....His teachers and Principal stood up for him...Loved him..and still do...Without Question, the best Defensive HS FB player I saw in 40yrs of watching Fl HS FB....He was Justin Flowe but better 16yrs ago...The Proverbial Man amongst Boys...and Btw...hes doing fine now...

Him and Freddie Miles are my 2 biggest "What If's".....and they both happen to be the best I ever saw play, both Offensively and Defensively.....
