Williams vs. Manning

Kinda like a former lanky FR QB in the late 1990s. He turned out pretty good as I recall.
KD spent more time watching game-film than the coaches, and I'm kinda not kidding. If he wasn't watching/studying gamefilm, he was playing video game with his GF. One time I was walking from the UM Library (2000) and bumped into him, and walked the rest of the way to Hecht chatting, and he was on his way to do just that. @Brooklyndee will tell you the degree of studying Kenny was capable of doing. First time I saw him on GreenTree, I thought to myself, "THAT'S the Ken Dorsey kid???...Wtf"??.....I said, Mannnn...are we in trouble if K. Kelly gets hurt....Lol...next thing ya know, KD lights up GreenTree all spring long....Looks are sometimes Deceiving.

So hard to reach a conclusion just based on the few snaps they had on the Spring game and the fact that these guys should still be in high school. Williams was a one-read pass in the highlight films from the Spring game. Some QBs stay that way their whole career. Obviously I hope he evolves (no reason why not, he's so young). I'm surprised to hear him crowned off a one-read effort.

The fact that Emory should still be in HS makes it that much more impressive. For 18yrs old, he looked pretty F-ing good to me, even though it was a Spring game. Loved his poise. Watch out once this kid gets command of Dawson's offense, and is able to have our starters on the OL in front of him.

"Arch Manning is talented, no doubt. But right now, Emory Williams is more developed as a QB and a better player.

North Florida, baby!

He goes through progressions well in his Hs tape. I’m not worried about him being one read.

The whole "He's a one read QB" thing is overrated. Tennessee runs a one read system, and some of our fans would give their left t e s t i c l e to have their offense.

Do you have a link to that video?

I still say Arch is gonna be a colossal bust but maybe I'll be wrong.

I’m only basing this on a few game videos I’ve seen him in high school, and some other stuff here and there, and I’m certainly no expert, so take it FWIW, but I’m getting the feeling he’s going to be a colossal bust also.

you missed the crowning and take down of J Brown. one minute hes generational like cam or tebow, the next he should be a WR based off a half speed glorified practice

I remember reading on this very board, not too long ago, that Jarren Williams looked better than Trevor Lawrence and was probably the best qb in GA. That being said, Emory Williams reminds me of a young Dan Marino with the scrambling ability of Michael Vick.

Interesting conversation I had with a friend of mine, who is a big contributor to UM, but he's very connected to the University of Texas. through his Uncle. I'd guess his uncle has probably given $50 Million to UT. (He was one of the guys who paid up so they could get rid of Charlie Strong)

My friend was a pretty good player himself in college, and I trust his judgment. He's had a chance to see maybe 3 or 4 UM practices this spring.

He was at the UT spring game in Austin and told me:

"Arch Manning is talented, no doubt. But right now, Emory Williams is more developed as a QB and a better player. If you didn't know the names on the back of the jersey, it would be pretty clear who you'd pick if you were recruiting them both"
Emory gonna be way better than Manning

I see him as blend of Dan Marino and Joe Montana, but with Joe Burrow's ability to slide in the pocket. Think of him as a white Air McNair but a better passer.... after the Spring game, naturally.
With the legs of Pre-Dogfighting scandal Michael Vick of course

Kenny has definitely always been a student of the game. Not gonna lie but this kid does give me that kind of vibe. He's got a good work ethic and he clearly has a chip on his shoulder. Looking forward to seeing this kid develop. I'm just not sure if we'll get to see it here. Jaccuri is the starter in waiting. But as much as we love him and his intangibles he definitely needs to make a TON of progress in the passing game as that's what his position calls for. I guess the one thing that remains to be seen is where jaccuri fits in THIS offense without enormous progress passing the ball. Williams I can see a clear path for him.

I guess it's like a Kelly vs Dorsey type of thing.

While Kelly had all the physical attributes, the offense fit Dorsey's "get the ball in the hands of the play-makers" style better.

And I liked Kelly don't get me wrong, but the offense looked bi-polar under Him at times.
