Will you be watching Lee Corso's going away party?

I will not watch. It’s been a gross theatre of manipulation for years now, I know the emotions will be sincere, but good lord just let the man go away in peace.
We discussed this years ago . It’s been gross. I told you back then it’s getting to the point they’ll roll him out in a wheelchair with a pencil taped to his hand . They should be ashamed.

The “Not So Fast My Friend” special was great. Him watching the tribute had me in a glass case of emotions.

Yes it has been sad to see the decline, but it is also a tribute to the man and who he is that the crew fought to keep him on.

I for one will watch, all of us who grew up on college gameday , Lee Corso was a vital reason why it was so entertaining and fun. **** even now, I still will watch the clip of his headgear pick. The man holds a special place and, for me, has earned the right to have the special tribute, special finale, and one final viewing from all of us. Regardless of when we think it should have happened, the fact is it is happening, and he has earned our admiration and thanks for bringing something special to the start of our college Saturday games for so long.

It’s more old heads on this site than I thought lmao. Gameday is still great. But yeah, I’ll be watching like I always do. Grew up watching corso man so it’ll be a good time to see him get his flowers.

Nope. Feel bad for Corso (health), but the whole thing is old and tired. Also, it was barely watchable without McAfee and completely unwatchable since he joined the cast and commandeered the show.

Bunch of grumpy sad people in here.

Grew up with Corso and Gameday was a pillar of my childhood mornings. Begged my dad to take me to Gameday anytime it came to Miami. I will never forget going with him in 2000 for the FSU game. Like Corso, my dad is in bad health but still fighting to enjoy every moment of life.

No, the show isn't the same. That doesn't diminish the memories of when it was in its prime. I'll be watching and emotional.

Agree.

Corso is literally one of the nicest people associated with the game that I've ever met. He's full of passion and has nothing but love for the game.

He's an icon, not as a Nole, but for his time on television. Sure, he's corny at times, but he's been a pleasure to watch through the years.

I'd be remiss though if I didn't say it was past time though. Nearly everyone in any sport or who becomes known for whatever their job is doesn't leave in the prime. They hang on as long as they can. His passion is still there, but age is undefeated. Thank you for the laughs and memories through the years.

The 90-year-old ex-coach with the sub-.500 record makes his 430th and final appearance on ESPN's cash cow before Saturday's matchup in Columbus between Texas and Ohio State.

Gotta be honest. Hold My Beer aka Grumpy Cane will be sitting this one out. Too much I just don't want to endure.

No. 1) Insufferable Ohio State fan base

No. 2) Were you aware that the Texas QB is the grandson of Archie Manning and the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning? ESPN will be revealing that news during the show.

No. 3) Desmond Howard. His mouth is moving, but yet he never says anything worthwhile. How is that possible?

No. 4 and by far the biggest reason) Won't be able to stomach Kirk "Herbie" Herbstreit sobbing uncontrollably in the clutches of his support dog while Corso waves goodbye with Brutus Buckeye teetering on his shoulder
you know wayyyy too much....i believe your lyING AND WATCH THIS WEEKLY CAUSE YOU HIT THIS ON THE MONEY.

I dont watch gameday anymore been about 3 years or so....when it went to a full on cryfest of sob stories and social justice i peaced out......I watch youtube podcst, caneinsight or stuff lie that befor egames now...

gameday use to be my go to but i passed...fs1 isnt that bad watched more of that last year.

Lee corso is a miami legend but ill be passing as well.

As they should have. It's not like anyone was not watching Gameday because of Corso's very limited appearances. He used to be on the show in its entirety since the inception, after the stroke they started having him appear less and less, which of course was the right thing to do. But it's also the right thing to do to let him go out on his own terms, he was the backbone of the show since it started. And as I said, it's not like people were actively not watching just because of his condition.
I did catch him drooling on himself last year, which made me turn it to the big noon show.

i cant stand tom rinaldi and dont know when he became a thing he is solely a reason i dont wtch a lot of espn stuff.

also why am i listening to a punter....on no football team i ever played did a punter even raise their voice...gah**** Pat Mcafee like he is some big sh*t with his nerd friends **** dat

I don’t know how his family has been ok with it for this long.

Because mentally he's fine. The stroke impacts him almost entirely physically. His family is OK with it because he's OK with it, and he's sound mentally. I'm with you though, it's a very tough watch. Especially the last couple years, it's gone downhill pretty quickly. But it's not like he's wandering around out there not knowing where or who he is and they're puppeting him for ratings. He's still mostly sharp, the stroke just sapped his ability to speak and he's also 90, so he looks like a mumbling crypt keeper.

Watching what???

Wow, I couldn't have a more opposite opinion than this whole thread, but I have been watching GameDay basically since the start, right after I graduated HS. Lee Corso is College Gameday. I will be emotional with Kirk and Corso deserves every bit of it after 38 years. I finally stopped watching last year because I had it with McAfee, Saban and part time Corso. I can't do it with a idiot and institutional plug, but it was the last ESPN show I have watched for a decade. I will be done with it after this show.
Same
