The 90-year-old ex-coach with the sub-.500 record makes his 430th and final appearance on ESPN's cash cow before Saturday's matchup in Columbus between Texas and Ohio State.

Gotta be honest. Hold My Beer aka Grumpy Cane will be sitting this one out. Too much I just don't want to endure.

No. 1) Insufferable Ohio State fan base

No. 2) Were you aware that the Texas QB is the grandson of Archie Manning and the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning? ESPN will be revealing that news during the show.

No. 3) Desmond Howard. His mouth is moving, but yet he never says anything worthwhile. How is that possible?

No. 4 and by far the biggest reason) Won't be able to stomach Kirk "Herbie" Herbstreit sobbing uncontrollably in the clutches of his support dog while Corso waves goodbye with Brutus Buckeye teetering on his shoulder

Unpopular opinion but I’m excited for him to get off the TV. It stopped being endearing years ago.

It’s just awkward and eye roll inducing at this point
I will not watch. It’s been a gross theatre of manipulation for years now, I know the emotions will be sincere, but good lord just let the man go away in peace.

You always understand me

Weekend at Bernie’s college football edition is almost over and I’m happy about it

I think both things can be true. It's absolutely time (and it's been time, for years) to put him out to pasture. But also, I grew up with that show, before it became an SEC suck fest network, so it's nostalgic to see him on my TV. And I'm softer than Twinkie filling in my old age, absolute Charmin soft, so I get emotional almost every week on just the Tom Rinaldi pieces. I'm sure I'll be in my feels watching them wheel Corso's corpse off on Saturday morning.

I hate when they drop those Rinaldi pieces outta nowhere

Just trying to enjoy your Saturday and then you hear some piano music and it’s too late

I feel exactly the same. While I feel sympathy for Lee Corso personally, due to his health struggles, the few times I’ve watched briefly have been painful to watch as they keep trotting someone that’s impaired out there.

I just don’t know why they were doing it. Maybe ESPN/ABC had the best intentions, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how this helped anyone.

Daddy why are you sad?

Oh, I don't know, some foster kid with cerebral palsy scored a touchdown against Dallas Carver and then got hit by a cement truck the next day and they're interviewing his parents so closely I can see their dental work.

On the ESPN presentation they did for him last week, the heads tried to have him removed a few years back before Kirk threatened that he and the entire crew will walk off if they do that. Kirk told them to let him leave in his own terms

Thanks for the clarification. I don’t keep up with all the ins and outs of the inner workings of ESPN so I had no idea of any of that. Just not enough time in the day. But knowing what you just posted, I still don’t think it was the right thing to do. I don’t think he did himself any favors by being on the air, but maybe that’s just me.

As they should have. It's not like anyone was not watching Gameday because of Corso's very limited appearances. He used to be on the show in its entirety since the inception, after the stroke they started having him appear less and less, which of course was the right thing to do. But it's also the right thing to do to let him go out on his own terms, he was the backbone of the show since it started. And as I said, it's not like people were actively not watching just because of his condition.

Well, I would, but I'm planning on rearranging my sock drawer. I haven't fully decided what organization scheme to use, alphabetically by color or chronological by date of purchase. Unless someone has a better way, chronological is in the lead.
I don't know if it's better, but I put the ones with the holes in the back and the good ones up front. It's like serving the good wine first and as people get drunk you bring out the cheap stuff.
