I hope they hire him and he does an average job so everyone on this board who has a hard on for him can go limp

I have to admit while watching PSU vs OSU I couldn't stop thinking about the prospect we had of BD back with Schiano at DC which is exactly how it was going to play out. I truly hope they pass on him again and make another mediocre hire but if they are smart,he is at the top of the list.
 
I don't think they will hire him and I pray that I am right. Anyone who does not think it is a massive threat to THE U to have Butch Davis recruiting at major sec school in the state of FL with the brown bags that do with that is a frigging idiot. Will he be great coach there, probably not; will he leave dozens of 1st round picks for whoever comes after -- absolutely. Just let him stay at FIU.

Pretty sure Mullen actually did receive death threats while the OC there and has openly laughed at the idea of going back. His name came up back when they hired McElwain and he wanted nothing to do with that job.

That said, if they hired either Mullen or Butch I'd be elated. Both would be below average hires and might set the Gators back more permanently.

I think him being at FIU is perfect. He can mop up the 2-3 star guys that we don't need but have potential and keep them from going to other schools. Plus FIU is like the little brother, you can enjoy them winning because they'll never pose a real threat to us.
