He **** well better. We're stuck with Mario for now due to his contract, but we shouldn't be stuck with Mario's bad OC decision.
The thing is Mario will be here for awhile whether we like it or not. So given that the best we can do is force his hand with his staff.I love when we hire coaches who literally cannot be involved in game planning. If Rad has to do that, he should just fire Cristobal for cause since he's clearly incapable of doing the job.
And that worries me. Since we're tied to Mario for a considerable amount of time I would love for Rad/the admin to force his hand if mario is unwilling to make changes.no. he got hired after the HC was hired. who you think runs the program here specifically football.
realistically, which innovative OC will want to work with Mario? thats the biggest question. wasn't gattis like plan D?
Can we pin this to the top of all threads? The problem is certainly Gattis but the bigger problem is Mario. The man is the worst day game coach I have seen in 60 years watching football. He consistently makes poor decisions and it kills the chance of winning a game. MARIO IS THE PROBLEM 1000% and now you know why Oregon didn't pursue him.
One that is willing to work with the position coaches Mario hires for them and not demand to bring in his own guys.Let's remember Mario first hired position coaches and then the coordinators.realistically, which innovative OC will want to work with Mario? thats the biggest question. wasn't gattis like plan D?
He needs to sit down with Orgeron for all the time O is spending here and listen to what changed when he had the highest success in his career. Absent that it is futile.Better hope so.
Then we have another off season of hype/hope. It never ends, lol.
On a serious note, and not to derail the thread and turn it into a mope fest but what’s likelihood of us getting the hires right this time around? Chances are low that we get an OC in here that will have full control and run a style different than what Coach Cristobal ultimately wants (which is the real problem IMO). We just had our most hyped hire ever, with the known investment and infrastructure changes and we hired 2 B grade coordinator hires at best (at the time of the hire). Yes, we need a change at OC…but realistically, how much better can we get there? I know I’m getting ahead of myself, but it’s something to think about.
Coach Cristobal’s staff usually has very high turnover, so I’m confident in saying there will be a change…I just can’t help but be afraid of what that change would be based on what I’ve seen thus far.
Look at the candidates that were rumored to be under serious consideration for OC…
Tommy Rees - yuck
Jason Candle - would have been great, IMO
Utah’s OC whose name escapes me - Nothing fancy about what Utah does, their identity is instilled through their HC so don’t know if that would have been great HERE.
Briles - Home run obviously, but doubt that was ever even close to happening.
Idk man …
Lol go hire Mullen and keep him off the recruiting trail. Have Mario be the prime recruiter and Mullen be the OC and prime coach on the field.Mullen or Frost, if Mario let’s them alone.

So we should just fold our hands and accept losing instead of at least trying to improve the situation we're stuck in?Coordinators matter on the margins. The staff here won't change anything.
Cristobal put together an experienced and quality staff and this is the worst Miami team in living memory
True. I have been a big Steele supporter but after today, I am done with him.The defense is terrible. Just wanted to point that out again.
