Will a 10-1 Miami make the CFB Playoffs?

10-1 Miami will not make the CFP. Now if we talk about interesting CFP scenarios, Say ND beats Clemson and Florida beats Bama and Ohio State DOESNT play in the conf. Championship. There could be 3 SEC teams in the CFP sadly.

There was a thread not too long arguing about whether Cane fans should want FSU to be good or not. Most were in the "F* em" camp and we all likely feel that way about FSU; but the nuance is that when they suck, their isn't a whole lot of appeal in our schedule. Here's where it hurts. Assuming we beat UNC, that'll be the only real high quality win. Nationally speaking, we may be considered irrelevant despite a 10-1 schedule. A bowl win would do wonders for our national appeal.
NC State is also ranked 23.

Ohio State is in. Rules have been waived

That only depends on which team Miami plays. Miami could go 10-1 and still not make the Orange Bowl. Because a win over Coastal Carolina … doesn’t do wonders for that national appeal.

Fair point. But my eyes tell me that they're so-so. I've been more impressed with UNC this year, just because that offense has legit playmakers. Howell, both RBs, and the WR are as good as any we'll see all year (outside Clemson).

Ohio State is a lock & they're going to get beat by any of the 3 teams they play. They really aren't that great this year.

To be fair - NC State and UNC would be 2 ranked wins, though UNC would probably drop out with a win. The elite win wouldn't be there but those are at least... something. You're right that a bad FSU hurts our schedule significantly.

If Miami ends up 10-1 on Dec. 19th, 2020, will the CFB Playoff committee be in a pickle?

Say:
Alabama beats Florida

Notre Dame beats Clemson again.

Now you probably have

1. Alabama

2. Notre Dame

3. ???

4. ???

7-1 Texas A&M who got destroyed by Alabama.
9-0 Cincinnati who has played no one.
9-2 Iowa State or 8-2 Oklahoma
6-2 Georgia
or
10-1 Miami who got destroyed by Clemson

So buckle up, the next two weeks will be memorable.
Ohio st will be 3 and A&M will be 4 . You a one loss SEC team will get in over Miami.

lol maybe like a 2% chance. Last nights rankings is all you need to know on how they view us no matter what happens.

Would need A&M to lose again. Otherwise we likely end up #5 at best which considering we could have multiple more losses is a pretty **** good alternative

We not at that playoff level yet and would get molly whopped. I'm good with finishing strong playing a good bowl game where we win and sign a star studded class.

It's a fair question- if TAMU has a chance because they only lost to the #1 team, why shouldn't Miami have a chance of our only loss is to #2? Answer is that TAMU had a victory over the #6 team, which establishes they are playoff-caliber. Miami lost it's top 10 matchup. We still have a chance to impress this weekend though. If Miami blows out #17 UNC like we did Duke, then Miami SHOULD jump Cincy and Indiana to land at #7. Cincy hasn't played a single P5 this year. 9-1 Miami should be higher than 7-1 Indiana (assuming Indy beats Purdue). Indiana's only ranked that high because they played one good game against tOSU.

if we blow out unc, we will jump iowa state and uga and probably Cincinnati.
