Wiley Playing Time

I don’t think Mario plays that BS. He needs to make his mark on ST or do more in practice etc. the money these kids are being paid and the stakes on the line favorites aren’t being played only those who earn the time. Hes still young. Samson took 3 years to develop.
Why are Chase and Toure allowed to **** up all game in pass game and cover nobody? Cant all our other LB do the same essentially lol play the younger guys at this point..
lol because that’s what College coaches do. Some players get away with stuff that other players don’t. 1 and 9 probably do everything right Sunday-Friday when it comes to film, practice, etc.

Dawg some ND podcast was going thru the numbers and these dudes allowing like 95% completion.. What do we have to lose playing the young guys at that point? The results cant be ANY worse

I’m confused why it’s some foregone conclusion he’s gone when the 2 kids playing 85% of the snaps at his position are seniors and won’t be on the team next year.

Maybe he’s not good enough to play here. In which case, he won’t be here.

But maybe, hear me out here, he’s got a clear on-ramp to playing time next year and sticks it out and takes a starting spot. Would the next hypothetical landing spot have some guarantee he’d start? Any program he’d potentially go to would likely have kids coming back who play a lot, no? People are acting like 2 true freshmen are playing over him right now. Should Keyshawn Stancil leave too because Scott and Moten are playing now? And yes, I understand they’re both NFL players and 1 and 9 are not, but the avenue to playing time point remains and is true.

Of course they can be worse. The UNC game couldn’t have and I’m as critical as anyone on the defense but what if Wiley, or any other kid not playing, takes the wrong run fit and lets a back go 70 for a TD? Didn’t you watch the end of the Pitt game? Yeah, QBs are playing on easy mode right now but at least we’re making teams earn it (that’s hard to type without vomiting, but it’s true). If you play kids who are going to make massive mistakes, it can easily lead to gigantic plays being given up.

Knowing what to do is even more important than doing it sometimes. So yes, playing someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing can absolutely be worse. As hard as that is to fathom, I get it.

These are all assumptions tho to keep a player down and justify online. We dont know but what we do know and see on film is they are targeted and marked man by every OC and its easy money right now.. But whatever.. We rock with 8th year and 6th year guys getting eat up like food and none of young guys know anything so who is coaching all these guys up?

He’s gone for sure. Don’t see an avenue to playtime for him
Nah hometeam, it would be crazy for a player to leave a team when the 2 starters are playing their last year of college football and that position will be open for the taking. I’m thinking that the player our fan base keep hyping up as the next great Miami LB should be one of the starter going into 2027 spring practices.

Note to self: you may need to understand that the same DC that us fans was hyping up as one of Mario greatest hires in 2025 is now a terrible coordinator and doesn’t know which player should be on the field at his position group.

* No disrespect Sr…My comments are directed at our fans that who is making this a issue by keep starting posts about a player who they only posted about because they know the relative is a member of the site…IMHO, they are doing more harm than good with the posts.

Go. Canes. 😔

I don’t get it.
Are we the only team in the ACC that doesn’t have linebackers that can cover?
This unc team has 3 losses. What did the other teams do or what do they have that patrino (who’s getting psucked off like he invented the dammm game) couldn’t figure out, but for some reason became Nostradamus last night.
I don’t remember the UNC linebackers making any plays in coverage either. Or any LB we have faced all season. In fact, every team that tried to use a LB to help on Toney has been burned all season and the commentators have opined that this strategy will never work. And yet teams still do it.

It is almost as though coaches don’t always have a better option and have to live with the personnel they have, until they can improve it. Which puts UM in the exact same boat as every opponent we have played.

Isn’t this every team in CFB? Have you seen a LB playing against UM this season who was any good in coverage?
Lofton hurdles guys, Toney beats them like a drum, and Fletcher/Mallory run over them.

Maybe it means the postion is just very hard to play. They have to be great at run fits, and cover TE’s and RB’s, and deal with RPO’s which target LB’s more than any position.

I’m lost on this hometeam…So what you’re saying is a player should be starting on Saturday who is doing everything wrong Sunday-Friday when it comes to film, practice, etc?

Someone please give me the name of a current CFB linebacker who you have watched and thought was excellent in defending the run game and passing game. If you can’t come up with an answer then stop expecting the UM’s linebackers to do something that no one else is doing well either.
Personally I think DC’s have to pick whether they want backers who are good against the run or against the pass. Because I don’t think any backer is good at both anymore. The postion is the most difficult to play on the field after QB.

This. A lot of people can’t comprehend that you want your methodology to win over the others. Ours has withstood it this year with some good fortune.

We see mediocre coaches give us a hard time like Brohm and Norvell.

It’s because their schemes are ones that give our schemes problems.

You heard Bellicheck say we didn’t make any adjustments to our defense.

This isn’t the NFL…scheme stay the same more often in college due to the learning curve and concepts.

Cantwell was our number 1 recruit and he is still learning because his high school only taught him simple concepts.

Dad and player are vocal…Thought they would play alot this year, rarely plays, two lbs over him one in the same class i think, more lbs coming in…It’s not the craziest thing to expect he could be gone
