Why the hype about Sanders?

Right. He had the best of intentions... Fvck outta here with that. I refuse to believe ANYONE is this naive. That's why from day 1 his sales pitch to kids and their families was let's do this for OUR CULTURE, OUR COMMUNITIES... He was all about hbcu need to come back to the forefront because they represent our black communities. Just like every other ****** lame he turned around a played a race card because he knew that's what people wanna here in this day and age. & It worked on certain people. Now literally the FIRST OPPORTUNITY he gets to parlay it into a power 5 school he's gone on the first thing smokin & it's a horrible school at that furthest thing away from a black community that there is in this great ole country of ours. So spare me with these great intentions. I've known prime for more than 20 years now. That's who deion is. He's a salesperson. A snake oil salesperson. All about the glitz and he promotes no one like he promotes himself. Can't knock him for that. But you ain't gonna try to tell me how great his intentions were and blame it on that town. ITS THAT TOWN THAT HE PIGGYBACKED INTO A P5 JOB. Call a spade a spade and just cut it out.

Imma be honest; if Deion don’t fare well at CU, he’s going to go from media darling to media whipping boy. Trust me, many in the HBCU community rejoiced when an outmatched NC Central beat him.
This! A lot of folks can see thru that “God lead me here” bullshyt he spews. I’m thankful for the noteriety and the spotlight he put on HBCUs. I liked the fact that he’s helped some kids get into schools… but he’s still the arrogant narcissistic, muhfucca that we seen high stepping down NFL sidelines some 20yrs ago. THE CRAZY part is that some can’t see through his charisma. Deion is about building his brand. Always has been, always will be. Why else would he need cameras around him and his team, as he “turned JSU around”. We follow sports. Just do your **** job. If you’re the goods, we’ll see it, right? Nah, he’d rather bring the circus to town. Everywhere he goes. He loves the spotlight…. He craves it, even though he says he doesn’t anymore. 🤣😂🤣 Now there were some financial craziness going on at JSU, so I don’t blame him for leaving…. as some of his assistants was literally making peanuts because some of the promises that were made to him, and staff, weren’t close to being fulfilled. Kudos for him for not airing out all of their dirty laundry on his way out the door. He could have made his exit, s lot more messy. But please don’t think he’s on some mission from God to change the game, or just to change a lot of kids lives (we all do). He’s just a football coach that didn’t want to wait in line, so he used his celebrity, status, and the media …to jump to the front of the line of P5 Head Coaches candidates. The thing that kills me is thinking about just how many brothas did he jump over that have been toiling in obscurity for YEARS trying to get a shot at a head coaching opportunity? Brothas don’t normally go through the ranks this fast. 3 years at an HBCU and now a P5 head gig?! Before that, he was just a “high school” coach. Bet ur *** though, If he’s successful…, he won’t be in Boulder for long, because God will probably tell him to get to a bigger gig.

I would have loved to see Deion stay at Jackson for ten to twenty more years and become the Bobby Bowden or Frank Beamer of the program. Someone who not only built it up into a powerhouse, but eventually got it to the point where they entered Division 1 football and were competitive, if not highly competitive. That would have been a really cool legacy.

Exactly. People wanna find a coach who stood for this legacy so hard they didn't open they eyes to what they had. People never appreciate what they had till it's gone. Fvck it, in this instance where that race card existed they still didn't appreciate him once he was gone. So world, meet Eddie Robinson. A man whose life actually did have purpose. who spoke on something and who fought a lifetime for the meaning of an hbcu... We need more Eddie Robinsons in this world and PRAISE THEM. Praise them while they still alive to endure it. While the deion simply be seen for who and what they are.

He bounced around the league late in his career and his final year was with the Ravens in 2005, 17 years ago. 17 and 18 year old kids don't know that much about him except the controversy and hype from his time at Jackson State. If his celebrity matters its to older fans not young recruits. If he gets Cormani more power to him but it won't be because of his playing days. We'd be best at getting Cormani if we had Ray Lewis give him a call. Ray is more current and from the same high school and certainly known by Cormani! Have Michael Irvin give Corman a call since Sanders got whipped by him when he was at the 49ers and went to the Boys to avoid covering Irvin. He can play for the U for championships or go unnoticed as a Buffalo...I'd say beat by us but no chance Colorado ever matches the U. Colorado has been insignificant since 1990.
Are you a black man of any descent? It’s relevant to the convo. For elite players (especially DB’s) or any player for that matter Prime time is a living legend. Seeing as to how football is dominated at the skill positions by black people a living legend is always gonna be appealing to play for. There’s never been another Deion sanders. And even when he’s gone he name will live on.I wasn’t old enough to watch prime in his prime. But the internet is a thing and that personality traveled he was larger than life and flashy..coming from where I come from we idolize that

This is why his son wasnt having it after the game when Deion went in for the Photo Op hug. Eddie Jr saw right through it all. He caught a lot of crap too but anyone who saw through the circus was rooting for Jr.

This doesn't just apply to HBCUs.

Naw he was hating and he isn’t related to Eddie Robinson; the legendary coach of Grambling State University. Dude was a 1st year coach in the SWAC getting in his feelings after a loss.

Prime? It's about his mouth.

If as much siht came out his *** as came out of his mouth, he'd have siht himself to death decades ago.

The fact he's STILL talking **** - is the greatest riddle in the arena of sports.

He was good, man. I think there were other old heads in their era that were better, but it’s always dicey comparing across a timeline. Guy had some “Cane“ in him.

He did do a lot of good in his short tenure there, that’s for sure. Jackson state has become a household name, and he left it better than he found it. **** he brought HBCUs back to the front of society. I mean the last time 60 minutes went to Jackson Mississippi, it was probably to discuss the desegregation of water fountains or some ****. He brought attention to a place it had lacked for my entire lifetime

Jackson State will be forgotten by Valentines Day.
