Why is Richt stepping down hard to believe?

We've lost 3+ games for 15 straight years. So tell me, how bad is it going to get?

It's not necessarily about firing him outright or him quitting. If things get toxic, it's in HIS interest to negotiate some sort of "retirement" rather than sticking around while it gets much worse and then getting kicked to the curb. How much is the extra money worth it to someone who already has money? And yes, UM would still have to pay a big chunk in that settlement, but it would be well worth it to resolve this soon with as little bad PR as possible.
 
He should Stwp down and save what dignity is left . He has to see he’s hurting the program

I don't get why it's so hard for people to understand this. People lie to themselves all the time to protect their egos. This isn't about him, it's a thing everybody does because it's painful to fail. He, like most people, will put the blame on something else rather than have to face the fact that it's his responsibility and his actions that are causing us to suck right now.

When was the last time you heard somebody say they sucked at their job? Now compare that number with the number of people you come across in a week who suck at their job.

Absolutely the best analogy on why Richt will never leave on his own accord and will fight to keep calling plays. Well done!

my guy says he might. he wont like having changes for on him like at UGA and he looks burned out. i mean he looks tired as **** this profession takes a toll.

I whole heartily agree. Most homers on this forum think what happened 1983-2001 will happen again. They don’t want to recognize the turmoil this program has experienced the past 15 years. We don’t hire elite coaches. We no longer own the recruiting wars in the state of Miami. We are a relic of the past. I hope we are both wrong in our assessment, but reality is that we are a bad football program.

The only hope is that UM shells out a fair amount for an OC, and makes Richt deal with it. If he doesn't like it, he will quit. If he quits, there's no buyout.
 
At 4 million a year for the next 5 years he doesn't care about planes, signs etc. I pray he does the right thing and truly has the will to win.

Brohm is pretty well signed sealed delivered to Louisville once ol boy gets canned. His personal and family ties to the school and area are as strong as you can get

Unfortunately if Richt is staying, he'll have to be ok with an OC for it to work. You aren't going to be successful with an OC you forced on your HC. There's just too much bad blood for that to go well.
 
What I don’t get is, at the end of the day UM is Richt’s employer. If they say, “wow Mr. Richt, we gave you everything you asked for, including waiving the nepotism rule, and after year 3 the offense and team is performing this bad, we would like you to revamp your offensive staff if you want to continue as the head coach”

He either says no and risks really being on the hot seat and the BOT actively looking for ways to fire him with cause or he obliges

The key is the contract which we will never see. Knowing the issues that plagued Richt at Georgia I’d sincerely hope UM included some leverage for themselves in the contract.
 
I don't think y'all remember the tail end of Richt's time at Georgia.

When asked about possibly not being the HC the next year he said something along the lines of:
"I'll be here as long as they [UGA] are willing to have me here."

In short, he ain't going no waahhh.
