Why Is Our Defense So Passive?

I could see if we didn't have the athletes... but at times it seems like we are more of a read react team like D'Onofrio was coaching

Miami should be a multiple look...one gap, playing up the field .. taking advantage of our athletes... similar to what Clemson does

We let a 2nd string QB from Pitt, have so much time in the pocket he could cook, clean and pick up the kids from school before we could get to him

We are held every play and call for targeting alot, takes the bite out of your team.

This is how you have to play defense in todays society....... The sooner D coords figure this out the better for Defenses.

I am talking when 2 evenly matched teams meet up.

Basically the authorities have tied the hands of Defenses. So you have to allow teams to move the ball in between the 20's.
Then when windows become smaller that is when you tighten up and basically hold them to FG's. Now this may sound like old strategy, but it is not because you trick the offence into thinking they are in control, but they are not, because what they try inside the 20 is not going to work.

Anyways play around with this inside your head and you'll see this will work.
