Why I hae the NIL...

I used to follow recruting, tried to go to high school games to see our future perform. I hated losing prime recruits but loved when a supposed unheralded player turned out great. I usually knew a little about every player before we started the season. I knew some Broward County high school coaches and VHS taped games at Deerfield. Got some good info from those coaches, Met Rod Carter while at Fort Lauderdale High. Off season now is a joke..following recruiting is not satisfying. We've got some highly rated players who get passed over via the NIL players. Our QB room currently is stacked yet I doubt any will ever get to develop. I really loved Chaney, wanted to see him progress and I know...injuries but still hated to see him go to Louisville. Having Cam for one year makes it hard to think of him as a true Hurricane and I really wanted to see Emory develop and the interviews before he arrived at the U of Anderson showed he was a true Cane, recruiting for us so now they sit another year and probably won't even get into mop up situations. Just sit on the bench and now with Nickel there too or they will NIL out. Without the knoledge from following the path of our dedicated recruits who have been life long fans..I could care less if Carson Beck is our QB as he isn't a Cane. He says the right stuff but the path to the U sucks. Its hard to explain the emotions of how the NIL has shaped our team, can't see one year players having the loyalty and dedication to the U explayers like Irvin have.
CFB is not a different world, it’s another planet. You’re correct the Michael Irvin’s are few and far between, not extinct. You know the old saying “ Money talks, Bulls**t walks. Coaches can’t Bs these kids anymore unless they’re talking dollars. Sad. But, it’s adapt or die.🙌🏽

I just don’t get the attitude some people have about the environment we’re in now.

While far from perfect, the University Of Miami football program is in a much better position to compete and actually maybe crack the upper echelon than it was just a few years ago.

After 2001, the SEC marshaled its forces and undertook a successful strategy of consolidating and subterfuging their pay for play scheme, especially the top three or four schools, with a wink-and-a-nod backing of the NCAA.

While schools like Alabama had budgets of hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars per year in under the table payments through their boosters, we were getting sanctioned for free gristled Benihana steaks and players looking at a boat from a dock.

The best players not only from South Florida, but generally in the south, were climbing over each other to tap dance for the klan in places like Alabama.

We were never going to even have a hope of cracking the elite schools under the old system.

Why do people want to have this system of corruption and preferential treatment back?

You should be removed from this board permanently

Don’t ask us. Who would you suggest can beat out Beck?

Don’t worry we’ll wait for your nap to end.
Won't know if they don't get to play..all were rather special in High School. Who ever made Bernie a QB was nuts but genius seeing his throwing motion. Luke Nickel and Carson Beck were both 4 stars and rather closely evaluated from High School. Same with Emory Williams, Judd Anderson ranked better then Beck, Joe Borchers the same as Cam Ward (sigh) We'll find out when they NIL outand everyone of them are bigger then Cam Ward...how do you find a gem without giving them playing time. Mario never seems inclined to sub with a lead. I'll hate watching them at their NIL school. Don't tell me they find out in practice, some of our greats sucked in practices, some great practice QB's lights went out when the bright lights came on. Gamers win, the cool under pressure QB's.

Impossible to argue that as an old Cane, but the reality is that UM being competitive again required the very thing we hate. We were never going to get a fair shake in the era of biggest under the table bag....restrictions on coach spending, etc, etc, etc.

We still will likely be unable to outspend those certain schools that need not be mentioned, but we are in the conversation.

We saw Emory. I think we should go with him the rest of his eligibility. We saw how well he played in the bowl game. He lead us to victory against CLEMPSONSES!!!
