Why I’m Not Concerned

I was worried about this game for a reason. Gators got athletes. Vegas knew it too.
Big, satisfying win
That's the reason we weren't 17 point favs like say Clem over Syracuse. Oh, maybe a bad example. Btw, wonder if Dabo will beat his 13 1/2 minute record answer toone simple question.

I actually think it escapes some of you that the goal is to win the game, either by 1 or 50. It's all the same check mark.

I really wish some of you would spend some time being a fan of another program and see what decades of futility look and feel like as opposed to acting like entitled children.

You know I think you are on to something. I just went and looked at a list of games and it says W by Miami for game against FLA

Maybe. But that game is going to be a war.
Yup. No rat poison involved in this one. It’s gonna be a bloodbath

I will say I’m not even sure we are fully appreciating just how dominant our defense was last night. The discipline. The aggressiveness. The “swarming”. Heatherman was absolutely calling UiFs plays on offense. We were never fooled once. UiF had that goofy little drive where they mixed it up and to their credit they made it happen

I can’t wait to see what this defense does against FSU. But FSUs defense is legit imo.

Not concerned one bit and if you are have you been watching our teams the last 20 seasons? Lol

We look like a legit top 5 team. We pushed around an SEC team for 4 quarters and allowed less than 150 total yards.

Rivalry games are weird and that 13-7 score in the 4th was flukey.

We flat out dominated them and there was never a point in the game when I didn't think we were the far superior team.

Beck struggled and hopefully that doesn't continue but the UF defense is legit.

10-2 floor and 12-0 ceiling for the regular season

Score was close late because we had 7 points stolen from us, and our Center cost us at least 4 points (and possibly 8, forgot of about the false start on 3rd and goal from the 5). Wackadoodle stuff, but it's a football game.

We fyzikally dominated the game throughout. That's mostly what I meant by "we beat the **** out of them." My biggest complaint is that after the ref theft of 7 points and Brockermeyer doing whatever the heck he was doing in the first half, we threw the ball 3 out of 4 plays on our 2nd and 3rd drives in the second half, and threw an INT and went 3 and out on those plays, because we were beating the **** out them the entire game and we should have just kept doing that IMO.
Texas should steamroll UiF. I almost feel bad for their schedule. I mean they were already beat up and that type of game can basically end your season with how much we beat on them.

Lagway might be done after these last two games

IMO we haven’t seen the best of this team yet.
I don’t think there’s been a season where the 1st 4 games it poured before and during the games.
That isn’t optimal for the skill players at all.

Like @DMoney, I was stressed all week about this game. It was a bad spot for us. With that said, we took care of business.

Was it pretty? No.

Was Beck terrible? Yes.

Am I perplexed by our play calling at times? Yes.

But I don’t understand most of the *****ing and moaning.

I doubt Beck plays that bad again. It happens to everyone. We can blame the weather, UF’s defense, or even the WR at times for our anemic passing attack, but this was not one of his better games.

Most of his throws were off target. And between that and the early penalties, we just couldn’t get out of our own way, UF was daring us to be patient and continue to run the ball. We fell right into their trap by beginning to force the issue.

The fact we dominated them in the trenches indicates that the sky is the limit for this team. As Mario noted, we have a long ways to go. But unlike past years, our issues can be fixed. There is no doubt in my mind that we’ll get better throwing the ball as the year progresses. People just need to be patient. Beck is going to be fine. We got two weeks to get better and I trust this team to get it done. Go Canes!
“People just need to be patient “. Should be written in bronze on a plaque in the center of Campus.

Beck was outright missing underneath throws in a way that is more likely to be an anomaly than not.

I do wonder why we don't run more diverse outlet options, but that can be corrected easier than not getting to the check downs or other talent issues.
He was even making the outlet passes difficult. Thank goodness our receivers have good hands, especially Brown. We have to figure in the weather, to be fair.

even on the few misdirection plays that they executed well they only 5-7 yards because the safety saved the play. always in the right place.

Heatherman was absolutely in their OCs bag. It was crazy. Granted Lagway not being able to complete a single forward pass helps but our guys were beyond prepared. Even when it got hype the discipline was on point

Agreed - not worried. But UF just provided everyone the blueprint. Keep a 2 high safety look and force Miami to be patient.

Just like we had to do last year - Dawson and Beck will need to find a counterpunch to this. Expect FSU to come out in the look in 2 weeks.
And we will run down their throats

Maybe I'm sipping too much of the kool-aid, but I don't know how legit FSU's defense (and team overall) really is. I realize these aren't the best metrics, but FSU has given up 10.8 PPG and UM has given up 11.58 PPG. When you consider the competition each team has faced, in that FSU has played East TAMU, a team currently 0-3 and went 3-9 last season, and Kent State, currently 1-3 and a team that did not win a single football game last year, I like our chances against a team that has only played one real opponent. UM has also been better in limiting pass yards per game and rushing yards per game.

I realize you weren't comparing the two units, and the sample size is small, but frankly, I could see UM putting the belt-to-*** on this one. It's a rivalry game and the first one on the road. The stakes will be higher and we've seen how these big games go, so I totally understand your perspective.

FSU's game against UVA will also shed a little more light on just how good the team is. But with the bye week and (hopefully) the opportunity to get fully healthy, I think UM rolls into ****hole Tallahassee prepared to dominate.

Yup agree with all of this as well. It’s early. We don’t have much to go on. FSU plays with good energy on both sides. They’ve recruited decently so we can assume they’ve got talent. Not sure how legit they are though of course but based on early returns it should be a **** of a test on the road

Some really stupid things happened against UF that in the past we don’t recover from.

1. A vet center that inexplicably forgets how to snap a ball.
2. A TD gets robbed of us in a critical point in game.
3. Our gunner decides to stand in the end zone to field a punt instead of on the 2 yard line.
4. A really bad throw by a 6th year QB at the worst time in the game.

Yet we overcame it and absolutely whipped their *** in the 4th quarter. Don’t forget about that. We played Tyson versus Spinks the entire 4th quarter. This team is both physically and mentally tough. That’s on Mario. And that’s what wins championships.

Ppl keep saying “Gave the blueprint”…

Gave the blueprint to what exactly?

Absolutely getting dominated on ground.

Giving up the field position, TOP and wearing out your front 7, To point where they don’t even want to tackle in the 4th quarter and get drove back 10+ yards while we drive the pile forward?
