Read this article Why isn't Lane Kiffin getting another shot as a head coach? It's not an easy answer - CBSSports.com

And yes I think the real question is why people think he deserves another shot at a HC job.

What's his big achievement? Being the worst coach to ever get a preseason #1 rating? And then proceeding to go 7-6?

Honestly I'm not even sure he's as great of an OC as people make him out to be. I think serving under Pete Caroll and Nick Saban makes assistants seem better than they really are.

He will get one soon.

A top 3 recruiter, and his "failures" at USC have been overstated. He took over a situation very similar to what Butch did here, and when he got fired he had almost the exact same record as Butch did at that same point (1 game difference).

He was probably too inexperienced at the time to be a major HC at the time, but the years under Saban will do him well.

He uses people and teams, then when he gets down nobody wants to help him because he ticked them all off. Didn't he get fired on an away trip and was not allowed on the bus afterwords?

I still remember him tanking the Bucs season because he couldn't keep his mouth shut for a month or two that his dad was coming with him at the end of the year.

Easy answer!
Because he has had three head coaching jobs and failed at everyone of them.

But hey he looks the part!

Because he's burned bridges and ****ed people off. Unlikely to get the keys to another top program anytime soon.

Article also doesn't mention:

* his blatantly bratty insubordination against Al Davis on the Raiders

* allegations of illegal recruiting practices at Tennessee

* constant reputation for diddling with undergrad girls at all his college stops.

Excellent OC and recruiter. Major failure and sleaze in all other coaching tasks,

God can the mods ban you already, 4th-and-14. I've never seen a post from you that I haven't felt like downvoting. You also were the biggest Golden lover on this board until he got fired.

Almost everything about you can be learned by your very username. I assume your username is a reference to the original 4th down conversion by Ohio State in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. I can't believe the mods allow somebody with that username on this site. Would a Notre Dame website allow somebody with the username 4th and 9 to post? The mods keeping you on this site makes no more sense.

I'm sure that the mods would ban you if you selected the username Terry Porter. And truthfully I find the username Terry Porter less offensive than 4th-and-14. Because if it wasn't for Terry Porter Ohio State probably would have won the game in regulation. Not that most people on this site will admit it.

Anyone who coaches under Saban or Belichick is almost guaranteed to be successful as a HC.

Saban has the "magic teaching touch"

It's proven that for every year under Saban your chances of being a good HC increase by 5%.
It's science!

Because he's an entitled little creep, who made it in the business off his Daddy's name & reputation.

Remember that rumor that he was smashing Saban's daughter? Lol!
