Why do we always look so weak and slow?

I feel like we got players that fit that bill this last class. The current class seems to be all about size for the most part, except for Stafford, Washington, and Joseph, which I love all their game. We really really really need Chris Johnson in this class.
There was guys in last class too. Kelly being one.

My brain goes to defense first

Bryant, Wayne, Aguirre, Washington is who I was thinking of

We desperately need twitch on D

@Cribby perhaps wrong board for the question...

What are you seeing/hearing/feeling/praying about where the 23 class stands in light (pun intended) of Miami's current state of 👇

I can't wait to get those LB on the field with Wes on the roster. Mario did a great job with LBs in Oregon.

We also got Rogers, Graves, Harris, and Stafford (committed) the future looks bright if we develop properly.

not cribby but I think the current class sticks. I think were screwed at WR esp now in October unless ruiz overpays which he should imo.

I think it finishes around 10-12 depending on how the others around us finish the year.

it think the MTSU loss really hurts us really improving beyond where were at this cycle. most would have said UNC is a toss up coming in and it was a toss up again. everyone knew before the year wed lose to ATM. going back, we shudlve won but I picked us to lose so I wont change off that. it just sucks that ATM is gone Abe a really bad team this year when its done so the loss will look worse, but the mTSU loss kills all momentum. hopefully, we finish off he year on a big run to close strong but hard to do when were still sort of half in half out on the O approach and injuries mounting.

Yeah our LB group is just painful to watch right now and we desperately need the infusion of speed and violence

Even when Steed makes the right read and play he ends up on his back

Not criticizing kids like him and Flagg, they just are what they are

We need an overhaul for sure

AtM came within 1 yd and blown PI call of beating Bama....at Bama...

They are a jekyll and hyde team, but hardly a cup cake.

You need elite playmakers or a system that makes good guys elite. We have neither.
Not yet the former, but I believe in Big Manny's system as the latter.

I'm critical of him.because the data dictates it.

Change the data and he can go from Big Manny back to Super Mario Cristobigballs.

I'm not saying he will, but it's still possible.

My thoughts and expectations on this class has never changed. Even today. I never bought into the top five class stuff but top 10 is still very possible.

We don’t get the “right” guys. We get the second tier of the local elites. The first tier goes SEC or OSU. We seem to get the mentally soft 7v7 warriors, who appear fast as can be, or good enough in coverage. They don’t run track so we think they are plenty fast, but it turns out pads make a big difference, and we have meh guys at the talent positions. The legit DL generally leave as well.
We are getting some of the right guys but surely not enough. It’s going to take time. And the fact is there aren’t too many scheme coordinators who can overcome our current talent deficiencies.
Be honest, who on this team gets drafted? Stevenson is playing his way off draft boards, and it’s becoming obvious why he left UGA. Speaking of transferring, who on our team moves to actual greener pastures? I love our guys, but even our plus guys have legit warts.

TVD: meh pocket presence and athletic ability. Good arm, pretty smart kid. Obviously needs an offense tailored to his skills though.

Mallory: Is there a less reliable, worse blocking 6’5” tight end in the history of the game? He had a good game yesterday, but there was a huge missed block on a 3rd down and that key drop.

Kinchens: At times looks all ACC, at times looks too slow IMO.

JW: Disappears a lot for a 5* talent.

Who am I missing?

We have just enough warts in our plus players and the mediocre guys are just that, mediocre. It’s going to take biting our tongue to allow there to be enough support that we can start to get some guys to stay around. But if everyone is calling for all the coordinators heads and questioning the staff, the elites will continue to bolt. Just my two cents though.

Do you see a path towards top 5?

Do you see a path where bottom drops out and tumbles to 15-20-25-30+?

My post backs up what everyone has seen thus far. Of course it can change, and probably will. But the discussion is about right now.

Big Manny was hired to change the recruiting misses into recruiting Ws.

Two fold purpose:
1) Miami gets "better athlete" on field
2) Miami's rivals do not get to have "better athlete" on field

I’ve never believed the top five was possible. I’ve been steadfast on that. Imo 12-15 is the floor 8-10 ceiling. That’s been my take since spring. Just my two cents.
