How insular do you have to be, to live in the most segregated city in America, and not even know how segregation works/functions?? It's sad that living in an isolated bubble has made you indifferent to other people's pain/suffering. I will be moving to Chicago later this yr, and like you I too will be living on the north side. The difference though..is that I actually will take the time out to visit the south side, because I realize that it has much more to offer than just crime & poverty. There are actually hardworking, productive citizens that live there, who choose to stay, because they have pride in their communities. It also has unrivaled culture & history, that is worth exploring/experiencing.
