Looking at his blue chip recruits (4/5 star), how many have lived up to status out of HS?

2011
Chickillo - disappointment
Grimble- had to transfer

2012
Bush - has lived up when healthy
Flowers - lived up
Hamilton - now redshirting, complete disappointment
Howard - has not lived up
Duke - has been great against lesser programs, but average against better.
Kirby - has not lived up
Lewis - same
McCord - same

2013
Burns - jury still out, but should have shown more by now
Carter - disappointment
Coley - regressed... toughness questioned
Elder - not lived up
Grace - potential there, but small
Muhammad - early to tell, but didn't flash much as FR
Olsen - off team
Sandland - transferred

2014
too early to tell, but Kaaya and Yearby seem to be the only ones that will live up to or exceed expectations

Overall, he has not hit on enough top recruits to be considered a good recruiter.

Duke tore up fsu last week are you blind
McCord has been a great player
Howard I put fault on developing players and we don't seem to do that
Chick should be moved to DT just my thoughts

There's a difference between recruiting and developing.

Golden has recruited well, although he's missed on some big fish. Development in certain spots has been an issue.

BTW I disagree with a lot of the names on that list. For example Corn Elder has played well.

Scheme and player development...but Dont be fooled Duke and Barrow were responsible for getting a lot of those guys to come here not Golden

What you posted speaks more to lack of development than recruiting, although I agree that he is over-rated as a recruiter by a lot of our fans.

He's a solid recruiter. He has a pretty easy job and underachieved considerably given the talent he has at his finger tips. He's been unable to land a majority of the elite guys in our backyard.

No one wants to hear it, but dude has done a **** good job of recruiting under the cloud. The fact that he was able to hold onto as many kids as he was, during a time when every single school out there was negatively recruiting against us, illustrates this.

Player development and game-planning for your talent is another issue altogether. But Al did a **** good job of recruiting during a tough time. The 2015 class is a little worrisome on the D side, but we'll see how thing pan out in Feb.

Your post is so confused....Is your argument that he does not recruit well or that he does not develop well? There is a difference.

PS you lose all credibility calling out Duke.

Right except last year with no cloud he flopped, and this year he's pulling another uninspiring class again.

Can't talk about development until we see what the NFL does with them. But the only true pro prospect is Ereck Flowers. That's not anywhere good enough for Miami.

Last year we had a top-15 class, and so far we have another top 15 class lined up for this coming year.

That ain't exactly "flopping", considering we've sucked for so long on the field.

Definitely not an Al supporter, but the same can be said at many successful teams. Look at the hit and miss rate at FSU. They have gotten many more 5 star players that have failed than Al.

I think it is more of a testament of the failure to develop the talent than talent evaluation. The reason I say this is look how many go on from what to appear to be failure careers here to success at the next level.

What does it mean....

Duke tore up FSU? McCord's a great player? Howard doesn't have good hips, feet, and lacks speed. Great ball skills, but doesn't matter if you can't get there.

Please. It's easy as **** to recruit here. Randy Shannon has the personality of a wet fart and he pulled some really good classes here. I'm not impressed by what Golden has done relative to what he should have done recruiting wise.

The ncaa thing hurt with recruiting. so did the fact we brought in a staff from temple no one knew about. i dont think player development for 2012 kids who stayed and never redshirted nor had any upperclassmen has been horrible.

You can only develop what's there to be developed. He recruited a lot of players that had their best days in HS. Duke is not a difference-maker in big games, the results show.

Butch was able to recruit a stable of NFL players, why can't Al?
