Why do Mario-led teams have trouble being motivated against inferior teams with coaching upgrades?

Louisville is a non-threat? They are 5-1 and ranked.
Georgia Tech went 8 overtimes with Georgia.
Syracuse had the best passing attack in the country.

We lost those three game by a combined 12 points.

People have to stop acting like we lost to Wake Forest.

Louisville isn't a slouch but we have more TALENT than UL overall besides Chris Bell and Isaac Brown which unless we are sleep walking or outcoached we should win. losses happen far too often under Mario and Miami of this nature.

You're not cut out for college football. The whole "moar talent!!" thing is usually overblown and can't really be measured anyway. Louisville can hang with top ten teams on any given night. As could Georgia Tech and Syracuse, on the road.

I felt the same way about Beck because living in Georgia all I heard were complaints about him from UGA fans and when I actually watched him play he was exactly as you described (especially in the bama game last season). But I allowed myself to accept that all fault was with the UGA Oline and WR’s. Live and learn.

It really felt like we were a step behind the UL coaching staff all game on offense and defense. And it felt like that from the beginning of the game to the end. We stayed in the game because of a few explosive plays.
UL really did a number on Bain. They wasn’t letting him wreck shop. They had a plan unlike the other teams .

yes UL can hang with any of the top ten teams on any given night however if we want to become an elite program again games like this shouldn't happen as often as they do.

Please find me a coach that’s very well respected losing this many games as double figure favorite ? This is 100 percent a trend with him getting teams focused for teams that are a non threat. I’ve talked to people that were on field and it was obvious the juice was lacking.
There are upsets & close games every weekend. Was Texas focused for Kentucky, A&M focused for Arkansas, Virginia for Washington State, Memphis for UAB, etc?
It sucks, but Miami isn’t the only team to get out coached or lack juice. Didn’t have to be on the field seeing Louisville had the juice & intensity.

Btw there’s a reason I was so worried about this game and Mario in these situations was a big part of it . Now him against a real threat , that’s a different story.
I agree. Also look at the first third of the schedule & we were the hunter, if you will. It’s easy to have the juice for ND, South Florida, Florida & FSU. Now, it’s flipped & we’re being hunted every Saturday. We’re getting everyone’s best. Teams are hyped to play the U. They want our *** & a tail to brag about.

Cribby why do you think that is? I don't know the man but I don't get the impression that he would prepare the team any differently. I don't get the sense that he goes easy on weeks that they are heavy favorites.
It's very weird to me.

Who are the elite programs that don't lose games?
It's the fact he loses to teams when he is a double digit favorite to win. Not many coaches do that as often as Mario. His style of ball lends itself to lower scoring games, when he has built the team in his image. That inevitably leads to losses when one team is better coached, and can score just one point more. His O doesn't attack enough. He relies on ground and pound, and hopefully hitting the deep ball. Where are the 20 yard passes? Where are the 15 yard passes? Everything is freaking at the line of scrimmage, or 40 yards downfield. Our O simply doesn't attack all parts of the field, and defenses are figuring that out.

I will say this, though. I agree with you. Everyone loses a game now and then. Also, I am SICK of the "Miami isn't back" because we lost a game. We lost games when we were winning titles as well. It's not like we were undefeated every year in the late 90s, early 90s. Why does Miami have to go undefeated to be "back"?? Sick of that crap.

3 remaining games in which the coaching has to be on point:

- SMU
- NC State
- Pitt

Case can be made for Va Tech because it will likely be a night road game in a hostile environment in which you must survive the first 15 mins and take that crowd and hope out of it. Otherwise, it will be a dog fight as well.
People still go to VaTech games?

it isn't losing just one game it is multiple games throughout the season like Syracuse or GT last year. we have the talent to be a playoff team but will we show up the rest of the six games?

So we only want a coach who loses a single game, max. Is that the standard we're asking for?

Well stated. Might argue that our offense Friday night mirrored UGA from a year ago & thus a less than stellar Beck. Couldn’t run the ball. OL struggled protecting Beck. Limited receiving corps - 2 excellent WRs, but that’s it.

Ok, DBs also made all-world INTs as opposed to our missed opportunities,

Come on man. You think people should consider Miami back? We have played for the ACC CG 1 time in 21 years. Let me repeat that. We have played for the ACC CG 1 time in 21 years, much less win it. And you expect people to fairly say we are back when we just dropped another ACC game as a double-digit favorite?

Our standard, by Mario's own admission, is much higher than that. The standard to being back isn't 5-1, even if it's still a solid start to the season.

Were we "back" in 1992 when Alabama mowed Mario into the turf? Is THAT what Mario wants to get us back to? Asking for a friend.
