Why did UGA fire Mark Richt?

But I hope folks are being rational in their real lives about this Canes football program, and know that Richt deserves 3 years to get things right.
.

Explain why it takes 3 years.

Because I think Richt is more Chris Petersen than I think he's Urban or Saban.

And it's taken Petersen 3 years to get things going the way he wants in Washington. ... Even though Sarkisian left him a 9-win team, that was 25th in the country.

Oh so Chris Petersen proves you only need 3 years? Are you really saying this?

Our program isn't in bad shape. Our program has the talent. Our coach can't coach an offense. Not sure why this relates to Chris Petersen other then you're praying that because it took one coach 3 seasons, it should take Richt 3 season.

So what we're saying is that he needs to realize this and bring in a competent OC and let them coach. That is all. This doesn't take 3 years.

15 years of irrelevance, 10 years without a bowl win, but everything is in place for someone to come in and win right now. Makes sense.

Wow

I mean there had to be a reason they fired him after 15 years, right? Could it possibly have been that he's a decent coach who doesn't ever win big? And if so, why are we to expect him to be any better here?

Because they think they're Alabama.

Ok so let's dissect this logic.

1) UGA isn't entitled to think they can win big.
2) UGA should accept being a 2nd tier SEC power
3) Mark Richt is the type of coach 2nd tier SEC teams should have
4) Miami should hire the type of coach that 2nd tier SEC teams deserve

So you are saying Miami shouldnt think it is Alabama either, correct? We, and UGA, should just be satisfied with being a 9 win team?

So Jagr: is Mark Richt an elite coach?

You do realize that every SEC team and every NCAA team is 2nd tier to Alabama. You can't emulate that success by hiring and firing coaches every year. It takes half a decade to build up to that level of consistency. Being realistic isn't being "satisfied".

It's clear Jagr is not a Canes fan. Not a UGA fan either. Thinks both schools should be lucky to have the patron saint of 3 and outs Pope Rickt.

Ok, Phark. The list of coaching candidates was crap by your level of expectations, so Richt was the LEAST crappy.

Miami in it's best days would wipe the floor with any of Sabans bama teams. That's what I want. Don't tell me about being second tier to ANYONE. This is fvccking MIAMI bro.

When your leaders and admin are potatoes, you assemble a list that can't get you where you want to go.

So just because you hire the "LEAST" crappy, doesn't mean you will get success.

Jagr's contempt for UGA for firing his Patron Saint of 3 and Outs is quite amusing. His relationship is so close to Rickt, one has to wonder if perhaps Jagr was an altar boy at some church in athens georgia. We know bout them church folk and their appetites......

you hit the nail on the head. Decent coach but can't win the big game. 15 years 0 NC's with elite talent. It's easy mathematics.

That's not the point. Eveyone wants to be that. 127 teams are trying to be that. Stop being a hypersensitive ***** and realize it's going to take a few years to get there.

Mark Rickt did less with much much more than Petersen who was kicking major programs asses at freakin Boise State. Not really a comparison.

Your opinion, you're entitled to it.

But Richt has never been HC at a mid-major, so we don't know how he and Petersen would compare.

And in my opinion, I think they are similar coaches.

Which is why I pointed out Washington was a 9-win team, and finished the year before Petersen ranked 25th.

But it's still taken him 3 years to get them to where they are now.

As for hiring an OC ... I think we could upgrade the offensive staff. But I'm not sure the fix is as simple as some make it seem. Because unless you're talking about bringing Coley back, a new OC would mean a new offense for Kaaya. And I think (not a hope or prayer) that he'll be better in the offense next season, with more experience and understanding.

So the comparison is awful? Maybe you're missing something.

I think you're just hoping it is like Petersen. How come it won't be like RS or AG?

28 Head coaches were fired last year. Guess how many of those teams new hires will win a championship this year.
