Why Are Most Angry with a Gino hire?

Finances are important as an AD. Seems like he has an understanding in that. Possibly managing people and assets.

Maybe his contact list may have potential investors into the program. Etc, Etc.

Yeah, I do not know what the respective positions entail.

Thinking outside the box, I wonder if his background in asset management may be of benefit when dealing with NIL deals., which is one of the advantages Miami should have given its market I know that the NIL money is not being provided by or through the University but it seems that the University could be involved to some degree in at least facilitating the business-player connections.

Yes, NIL is definitely a good catch by you especially since Flake was the only AD that was revealed to have voted against them in the ACC.

It’s a dumb hire. It may work out, but for where we’re at, that doesn’t make it any less dumb right now.

This school can’t get out of its own way. The Miami connection thing is a huge hindrance. Rarely does that connection mean anything, and in most incidences, it’s a huge negative.
 
What in the last 2 decades has made you think the administration deserves the benefit of the doubt, especially with out-of-the-box hires?

Can we maybe just try doing the obvious thing for once?
 
If it makes anyone feel better, I remember bumping into Gino towards the tail end of the Richt era and he was quite displeased too. I don't think he is a coach bootlicker. That's where I think he can shine in that his football backgrond/knowledge will allow him to independently assess the team, program, staff, etc. without needing to ask anyone what a seam route is or the difference between 3-4 and 4-3.

AD is a business position, the business of athletics. Gino is a very good business guy. Learning to negotiate the landscape of college athletics with his creds in D1 FB, should be a no brainer. Bring in Zo, and his NFL experience it’s all good. Hiring Mario as HC is the real winner. So they’re Miami guys,yeah Miami guys that have won it all. Climbed to the top of college FB. How is this a ***ing bad thing? I’m a Cane, and I welcome them. Let’s do this ****.#CANESNATIONLIFER🙌🏽

So because he has a business background he can run an entire college athletics department? And how is it high reward? It’s fuqqin high risk low reward.

Also, you saying that him possibly interviewing well will justify us hiring him…are you actually being serious about these two points?

Plenty of ppl in life can interview well, but have none of the proper credentials for said position. I don’t want Gino because he’s never done it before…point blank. It’s an amateur hour hire, and reeks of UM’s stupidity and Miami bro mentality that has sunk us for the better part of two decades.

Re read what you just wrote and listen to how ridiculous it sounds.

I think you're missing the point.

I am not advocating for Gino or saying he'd do great or anything (I don't think anyone can-he's got no experience), but here are the facts:

It is a fact that people like people who look like them, talk like them, and come from a similar background as them. I guaran-friggin-tee you that if you put Gino in a room with UM higher-ups and administrators and business-savvy folks, he will impress people (for the reasons I mentioned). Does that he mean he should get a job? No. But, everyone should be prepared for the possibility that Gino could get a role (even assuming that he's interviewed, which we don't know) simply for that reason alone, regardless of whether you think it should happen or not.
