Who's the AD at Baylor?

Incidentally, back in 2010 or so the county almost violated some terms of its tax exempt bonds used to build Marlins Park that would have defaulted them. That would have made all of them payable presently at their full value of $2.6b.
 
That video of Blake in Maine on vacation was 🤮. The outfit was so dandy. He should not be an AD.

The fact that UM is the only major college football power that does not have its own stadium is inexcusable. That's the baseline reality.

How or why is pretty much irrelevant. Just get it done. You say no Dade municipality is willing to help, but have we asked? If we have, it's not public knowledge. To my recollection, UM has only broached the topic twice... first under Shnelly when he was asking for one and was shot down, and second when David Beckham was going to build a soccer stadium... and that was never a serious attempt but rather Donna Shalala, who was about to run for office, attempting to please the crowds pandering for votes.

Other than that? Nada. And that's why the national perception of Miami is that we're cheap and uncommitted. We're in a teal rent-a-stadium, and you bet other colleges use that against us. It's up to our athletic director to drive the bus and establish some kind of vision for the program. Blake doesn't do that, he's a ticket salesman. Miami has never hired an actual leader to lead the athletic department.

Are we still on thisz? We also brought it up w Donna but was turned down. Becks will neverr get that stadi8m built

The fact that any major college football team exists that doesn't have its own stadium in this day and age is laughably pathetic. We had a perfectly fine stadium - the Orange Bowl - until Manny Diaz Sr personally tore it down, while Donna Shalala looked on laughing.

Now we play our games in the great Teal Rent-a-Field in Miami Gardens and people still want to defend it. There is no defending. There is no doubt other teams use the fact that we have no stadium to recruit against us and frankly, it's the biggest proof there is that this admin doesn't give a crap about football.

If Miami wanted to build a stadium, they could. They don't want to spend the money.

Dolphin Stadium is a good place to see a Dolphins game, it's not a good college football stadium and no amount of rafters or upgrades or flying cats is going to change that.

Without getting in to the weeds on the stadium bit, all I can say is where there's a will there's a way. If they wanted to get it done, they could. UM has a lot of pull in South Florida, and there are many places where something could be built. The excuses feel a lot like a cheap admin stringing gullible fans along, rather than anything of substance. Can't build it on campus or in the Gables? Fine, find some other location. They HAD a perfectly fine stadium - the OB. When they tore that down, they should have had a backup plan in place. "We're tearing this down but replacing it with XYZ." Instead, they tore it down and left us with nothing but a rental that has never, and will never feel like home.

Remember that narrative Miami used that the stadium was being remodeled w/ them in mind?? Lol. The stadium received a face lift b/c Ross wanted it to be more attractive for SB bids. But the Aqua blue seats were a clear indication that this was a DOLPHINS stadium & we were simply tenants.

USC play in their own stadium called The Coliseum. U can literally walk from campus to The Coliseum w/in 10 mins. They partnered w/ The City of L.A.

UCLA have been playing in the Rose Bowl since 1982 & have also created a partnership w/ The City of Pasadena & The Rose Bowl Committee. Ppl 4get UCLA played at The Coliseum b/c The Rosebowl to them was like the OB to us.

I used to be on the "wHy DoNt We HaVe OuR oWn StAdIuM?????" train. Then I bought a house and started learning about real estate.

Now I realize why we don't have our own stadium.
 
none of this has anything to do with why Miami cant get a guy at AD like the guy Baylor has, the guy came from a group of 5 background

They raised over a B twice in the last 15 years or so for med school snd I believe campus upgrades as well. Here’s the second:

Miami can probably get the Baylor AD if they want. Baylor is dropping to G5 level in a couple years…Miami could get anyone from the Big12 not named Oklahoma or Texas honestly.

Because fans of Baylor and the others want and expect them to get in to another major conference…when that doesn’t happen they will blame AD. So any smart AD would take a lifeline out of there
 
I say Chris Prezman from Houston. Would be a tough pull since that's his home and he is an alumni. But he has done well for Houston for multiple sports
