Who Would Be A Savage OL Coach?

Jackson's ego would eat Richt alive. He is actually the exact type of personality UM needs, but I don't see any scenario he would be willing to take an OC position in college nor a scenario Richt would be willing to hire him.

Lmfao ..3-36-1 Hue Jacksons ego?

Hiring a new OL coach and keeping Richt as OC accomplishes nothing. Its like hiring a new DL coach in Dorito's defense.

How do you guys not see this? It is the exact same scenario as we had 4 year ago, did you forget?

Its mindblowing you guys are even talking about it.

Semi chicken and egg situation though. You could bring in the greatest offensive mind in the world and it would be almost pointless if the line play is junk.

I mentioned it in some other thread but solid line play at least begins to mask the schematic deficiencies and doesn't as overtly expose junk QB play. Obviously it doesn't begin to solve those issues but you really do need to build from the line out.

Reese Morgan - He's the DL coach for Iowa, but before he started coaching DLine, he was the legendary OL Coach that recruited & put Robert Gallery, Brandon Scherff, Riley Reiff, Bryan Bulaga & Marshal Yanda in the league.

Bill Bedenbaugh - Oklahoma; put a bunch of good lineman in the league

Herb Hand
Jim Turner
Ed Warriner
Joe Rudolph
Derek Frazier
Warriner is in his first year at Michigan and has drastically improved their OL play

Find someone with a good track record and pay them. Its really that simple. Also find an OC with a good record of developing QBs.

I like Art Kehoe, but hes been fired twice. We don't need #3.

Hue Jackson might be a good oc candidate, but I dont think we can pay him.

We dont even need an elite ST unit, just a competent one.

You must be kidding, right? Hue Jackson thinks he is gods gift to earth in coaching. His personality would not go well here. Keep him as far away as possible. I live in Ohio so I have seen it all with this guy.

Dale Williams at Purdue-Been their Oline coach two years, and came from Western Kentucky with Brohm. Was Oline coach in the FAU Rusty Smith years and has always been a line coach for very good offenses.

Mike Mattox-USF been a Co-OC/OL coach at several places before USF the last two years and they're like 29th in the run and 11th in total offense this year. He's in his mid-30's and looks like a good up and comer. Maybe we get him and Sterlin together since they've worked together before.

Out: little Richt and Searles. In: Mattox and Gilbert.

McKinnie in an "offensive analyst" position would be dope and HE'S the one bringing it up publicly? If Richt and co don't make that happen, that's criminal.
And McKinnie and Reed are tight like spandex. Wasn't Reed assistant DBs coach with the Bills? A "defensive analyst" position where he helps out his old teammate Rumph makes sense. He doesn't need the money of an assistant position. He already has a good relationship with the DB coach. As an analyst he wouldn't have to focus on recruiting, but ironically, his name on the defensive staff would have an impact.

I've never been on the "Former player with no coaching experience as Coordinator" train. But if those "analyst" positions were taken up by guys who've made their millions already, love the program enough to put in the work and most of all, are cerebral, I can see it being a benefit.

Imagine Beason as a "defensive analyst" working with the MLBs so Patke can do his striker schtick and Manny can focus on general DC duties. You heard him on WQAM this weekend. He has a vested interest in this working.

Miami has to be creative. And if you've got a former all-pro PUBLICLY reaching out to help out, one who is close with other all pros who have talked about getting to coaching, why not take a swing? Maybe it doesn't happen. Maybe it doesn't work. Well, ****, what you're doing isn't working either. Just fix the ****. smfh

Nah **** it, bring him full time.

This sounds like a guy who wants it haha

Funny bc I remember Mckinney being one of the players pounding the table for Coker to be the HC in 2000. That's part of the reason that Miami is in the mess they are in.

He should be giving every check he has ever earned to bring the U back to life instead of drawing a check.

An actual Turnstile as OL Coach could teach better technique at this point.

The coaching fraternity is small. Everyone knows who the best are, who would change jobs, and who the up-and-coming stars are.

The problem is Richt. With the exception of Kul, Richt and Manny hired coaches they knew rather than find the best coaches available.
