I’d start this guy over TVD

I don't think it matters, I don't think we have a prayer in this game. We need to turn the page eventually, and if Williams has the courage to take some lumps this year and build on the confidence he/theteam/we gained vs clemson, let him do it.

Start Emory, and its not even close.

We have a very good o-line and they are excellent in pass blocking. They will give Emory time and I'm sure it might even motivate them more if Emory is playing. Emory already started a game against a very good defense. This idea that we are throwing him to the wolves is just not accurate.

If FSU decides to come after Emory and send pressure more than usual to confuse and rattle him, then it is up to Dawson to come up with a good game plan this week to counter that pressure.

Simple question who’s answer I’d like to see quantified among the fanbase. Reply with your why.
We know it’s not TVD, that leaves us Emory or Brown.
Emory has a start this season and won it and has a legit shot to be the guy next year.
I’d love to Emory start and have a few short yardage packages with Brown. He was unstoppable last year on anything 2 yards or less to go and our OL this year is light years better.

How much of TVD crashing and burning is attributable to NIL? The guy seemed hungry as a freshman but not since he got his payday. And as others on here have said, his body language and lack of energy/passion are disgusting to watch as a fan, and I'm sure even more infuriating for those playing with him (e.g., I wonder how Matt Lee feels about TVD, since he actually cares).

You play Emory, you burn his redshirt. I don't see the reason to that if we are going to bring a portal next year

Even though I voted start TVD…Agree 1000% with this. Preserving illiams' redshirt should have absolutely nothing to do with this decision.

I voted for TVD (haha I know). Here is why:

Miami isn’t going to win this game (unfortunately), regardless of which QB on the roster starts.

Putting Emory out there is throwing him to the wolves. No reason to risk him getting hurt or lose confidence in his future.

Put TVD out there. Let him do whatever he’s going to do. It doesn’t matter. Then, the following week, give the ball to Emory. Let him try to pick up some wins when Miami has a chance.

I think you play both and come up with a game plan that you know FSU cannot prepare for. This team has NOTHING to lose. Run an offense that is constantly changing and keeps them on their toes and hope the defense brings it. I would be running them in and out the same way NC State did.

If we go out with TVD and run the same s*** we've been doing the last 5 games.....God help us. Again, we have NOTHING to lose.
This is definitely something that I would love to see. Exactly how I feel , Nothing to lose !!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Let’s go Canes!!

Nicknames are given by others based upon the respect that person earns. If you're a loser, you get a loser nickname.

He was making great passes the last 6 games of 2021 and the first few games of 2023 thus he earned Tyler Van Dimes.

Now, he's throwing passes to defenders at a record clip and can't even throw a 3 yard screen pass, therefore Tyler Van Dump is a great nickname.
This is where TVDoobie is gonna end up...

Go heavy RPO, run and quick hitters and if TVD can keep his composure and isn’t ****ting down his leg throw some deep ones but I’d keep it simple on the passing game.

Ruin Emory? From what? You do realize that Clemson has a better D than FSU

Help me @cway313 This thread is sending me into the abyss

This is it right here.

To any concerned with ruining Emory, my question for you is: what do you ultimately expect him to be? Genuine question.

If I thought he was a potential game changer, yeah maybe the pressure & hype of being a top prospect, combined with being thrust into a hostile environment with questionable coaching/playcalling could sabotage his future.

But he's a lowly regarded player with no hype or expectations. I think his ceiling is very good JR/SR QB who'll need time to reach his full potential regardless.

At the end of the day, if Mario supports Emory as much as he has TVD & if Dawson finds his mojo again, then Emory can come back from any bad experience suffered during this game. Especially with the rest of the team performing as they have. I think they are just looking for a spark. Maybe that's Williams. Maybe not. But TVD is unplayable at this point.

I don’t see how they can start TVD again because he’s been terrible since GT. Even if he’s been better in practice, it isn’t showing up on game days when it matters.

If your RB fumbles, you take him out a series and put the next guy in. I know QB position is different, but TVD has shown to be completely incompetent over the past few weeks.

Coaching staff really needs to do better with the QB room and get Williams more experience.

We should start Mark Fletcher at QB...

Put 10 OL’s on the field & direct snap to Fletch every play. 80 carries for him.

Throwing the Football is stupid.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s stupid. But it is highly, highly overrated.

I think playing an underprepared Qb in a game they’re not ready for ruins QBs. I think Emory is a year or two away from being a dude but I think he has a lot of potential. For those that like to compare everything to Bama, he’s more Mack Jones than Tua in my eyes.

Football isn’t “Goat or garbage” there’s a lot of nuance. My opinion on a Qb decision takes into account best and worst case scenarios. Worst case scenario with Emory is more detrimental to the long term trajectory of the program than worst case with TVD. I lean TVD with an up tempo plan and a Jacurri package sprinkled in.
Starting freshman doesn’t “ruin” them. This isn’t 18 year old statue Brad Kaaya, with a Swiss cheese O line against an in his prime Charlie Strong defense. Emory played the best defense on the schedule and was barely touched. FSU’s defense isn’t that good.

What you absolutely cannot do is start TVD and have him turn the ball over and be down 2+ scores, and then go to Emory. That’s worse for him than giving him the reins from the jump. If you wanna ruin a kid’s confidence, force him to try to make throws to mount a comeback, that he’s not ready for and turn it over multiple times.
