Who is in your All-Time defensive seconday?

Bennie was also a World Class 400 meter guy....His brother Brian was a World Class 100 sprinter....

Yep, Bennie was probably the better athlete we’ve ever had at safety. Taylor was a great athlete but blades was a borderline Olympic 400m qualifier in HS. At the time (even as of today), was blades the highest drafted safety ever?

Im not completely sold on Bennie being a better Athlete than SeanTay....I personally watched Sean (with Glen Rice in attendance) put on a Dunk Display (I'm talking Tomahawks) inside the practice gym next to Hecht in 03....and then quietly exiting the gym while all the onlookers were picking up their jaws off the ground...

These lists are always difficult due to how many greats we have been blessed with. Bennie Blades was a stone cold killer at safety and Sean Taylor was a silent assassin. To me interchangeable and a lot of the fans here did not have the treat to watch Bennie’s grim reaper mentality.

Semper Canes!!!

@dsddcane will tell ya bout Seans Athleticism....Even little things like jumping onto the back of Brett Rombergs SUV (tailgate) standing flatfooted like it was nothing...
I haven't read this thread at all so I dont know if this is a canes thing only or period but for me at safety a cane thing only or period should be the same in any interchangeable order. That's Bennie,Sean and ed. All three monsters of a different sort. #4 out of um would be my godfather. Burgess Owen's. Far as Sean goes he was absolutely freakish when you look at how big he was and then see first hand just how athletic he was. Seen that boy do some insane **** like it wasn't nothing. Side note I really wish as a university we would do more to honor his memory. Not just him,but marlon, chris,Bryan and al as well. These are people that bled with us. That should never be forgot or disregarded. You dont simply say out of sight out of mind over that.

Growing up, sean’s dad had him doing all kinds of workouts in a bulletproof police vest... squat thrusts, pushups, you name it.

When he visited gulliver for the first time his sophomore year — he had never lifted actual weights before — he walked into the weight room during weight training class. Some kid had 185 up on the bench and Sean, in a button down and tie, casually walked up, ripped off 10 reps like it was nothing, got up from the bench, looked around the weight room, and left.

Antrelle did very similar as well. Both of them have some funny stories about being a jit with their old boys. Came to really look up to both of those men throughout the years. That's half the problem especially (but not geared towards)in the south. For numerous reasons parents have ceased being parents with strong morals & beliefs. Kids need that now more than ever. You can say what you want about our kids being thugs etc but anyone in house knew better. To a man we had a family. No matter how much we fought,no matter the impression we left on the field we loved each other like brothers off the field. We were one big *** group. Sure in practice we all hated the other side of the ball. We all held each other accountable. Some far more so than others. But when we weren't in competition against each other we bled for the man next to us. I know I'm ranting. I just get tired of all the petty bickering.
