A bit of a different thread from all of the gloom this last month has generated. I'd like to talk about The List.
The List is something that I would classify as the List of Woe. When a team embarrasses the University of Miami, they go on The List. Because gloom does not last forever, and one day, hopefully not too long away, this stuff will get squared away. And when it does, there is a long line of clowns who need to get what they dished out, only a thousandfold back.
The List is not count rivalries. So Florida State remains in its own circle of gloom. But there are others who deserve to be on there. Programs who not only need to be defeated, but to be dealt such crushing losses that it changes the direction of their programs. Like Texas in 1990. Like Syracuse in 2001. Like Washington in 2001.
- Ohio State: They are forever on there, for 2002. A dozen blowout victories wouldn't even begin to even things out
- LSU: For that fun little fight at the Peach Bowl. They earned a spot there too
- Virginia: For the last night of the Orange Bowl
Those ones are easy. But as this season goes on, as I witness various idiots throwing the U sign down, I can think of some other programs clamoring to climb aboard that List. And I hope the freshmen, the transfers are watching this crap. Because they're going to be the ones who turn this around I hope, and the ones to start giving recompense in due time.
So not today. But in the future.
Who has earned a spot on The List?
