The committee already compared us with ND, and they think ND is better.
Not back to back.
What they said was, and if you feel this is bull****, I agree, but they didn't say they compared Miami and ND.
They said they compared Alabama, ND, Miami, and BYU, and they felt the order of those 4 teams was Bama 9, ND 10, BYU 11, and Miami 12.
What happens if BYU loses and Bama wins? They already have Bama ahead, that obviously won't change with them winning the SEC. BYU very, very likely drops a spot or two.
So now you have Miami and ND, back to back, and you can directly compare them. I know I'm a parrot here, but this has happened 14 times this year.
In all 14 instances, the H2H winner has been ahead of the H2H loser when those teams are directly next to each other in the poll. It's happening right now with OU and Bama. OU is 8, Bama is 9, they played, OU won.
It's also happening right now with Texas and Vanderbilt. Texas is 13, Vandy is 14, they played, Texas won. There have been 12 previous instances of this exact situation in the prior weeks. In all 12 of those, it was the same protocol. H2H winner is above H2H loser when they're sequential in the poll.
Having ND 10 and Miami 11 would be completely unprecedented for this particular committee. Doesn't mean it has to happen, there's no law, the committee doesn't get executed if they don't do this. But they're 14/14 so far this year in doing it.
