Who do we hire as DC ?

not sure about DC, but would not be surprised if he got Frank Ponce current OC at App State to join.

Amazing DL Coach and recruiter, not sure on him as a primary DC/Play caller though. I don't believe he has done it. Bama resurrected his career but he had multiple 1st rounders that he was coaching. He would bring an extreme level of toughness that would match Mario, and they worked together at Bama as well so there's a relationship there. I would 1000% welcome him on this staff as DL or LB coach, but as DC? Nah, we good.

He was DC at Bama for couple years. Of course Saban was in his ear. He jumped to nfl and his career has kinda stalled. Maybe get him and pair with a co-dc that’s a grey beard

Lake just made those comments about Washington and Oregon not recruiting the same kids. Obviously that isn't a be-all, end-all, but idk if he would've made those comments if he and Mario were buddy-buddy.

Geoff Collins. Word is gonna get fired after this week

He was Mario’s DC at FIU.
4 years HC experience at GT
Spent couple years at UF as DC

They definitely recruited a different type that specifically fit them under Petersen. I know that for a fact, good friend of mine was director of recruiting there under Petersen for a few years at both UW and Boise and we have had this conversation several times. Lake is still a solid coach though and will get paid handsomely by someone to run their defense, probably on the west coast.

I have a hard time thinking Mario would be bent out of shape over that but like you said, not be-all, end-all. I just hope whoever the HC is, they are about (especially at first) getting extremely qualified assistants and coordinators that'll recruit, recruit, recruit, recruit and develop, develop, develop, develop.

oh yeah. Lake started it by saying that Washington doesn’t compete with Oregon for recruits. They compete against Stanford, Notre Dame, and I think he said Northwestern. Basically implied the guys Oregon recruited couldn’t get into Washington.

After the game, Cristobal was recorded (ig live) saying that program and their coaches are what is wrong with football among some other things. Recording got cutoff but supposedly he had words about Lake.
