Over the last 15 years we have lost many of the elite recruits coming out of South Florida (Petersen, Dalvin Cook, Cooper, Jeudy, Alex Collins, Teddy and many more just to name a few). Part of the reason is lack of winning. If we win, they will come (at least some of them). I think we'll win more than 7-6 going forward, but not make it to the CFB anytime soon.

Banda is suppose to be an elite recruiter. Who else? Enos? Hickson? Baker? Butch Barry doesn't appear to have the attributes of a good recruiter, unless we are talking bovines.

This is very concerning. Thoughts?

Honestly I’m not sure I have much belief in “elite” recruiting, kids are gonna follow the money and be front runners for the most part, I know people don’t like the “win and they will come” mentality but it is true, win consistently for a few years and kids will want to play here again, so it starts with having solid coaches, coaching our talent up (we always have good to great talent) and showing kids what they have to play for if they stay home

Win and look good doing it. We need to win convincingly against ranked teams, and we need to consistently beat our conference opponents.

Winning is the ultimate recruiter. Just ask the Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce. Same for Stillwater Oklahoma. How is losing working out for the LA teams who also live in "paradise"?

The "State of Miami" is no more. The internet and social media have made any location impossible to "lock down". Miami needs to get the best athletes and program fits from across the nation. If they come from SoFL, great, if they don't that's fine too.

For certain, Miami can plant the seeds of Cane fandom at the local pop warner level, but that goes back to winning. Kids want to see a bigger world, if they didnt, that would put them outside today's norm. Its actually harder to keep all the best home and Miami's irrelevancy just doesnt help. We are seeing it here in SoFL just like they are experiencing in LA.

You're right plus these kids are fickle. One day it's the winning. Then it's relationships with coaches and players. Then it's facilities. All I am hearing about from players this morning is how South Carolina is the best they've ever seen. . . even better than Clemson. IDK man. I think if we coach kids up and win with some style points that the right kids will become Canes.

We win we will recruit well. Just look at richt's 1st 2 classes. The last 2 classes were the most talent UM has brought in in a 2 year period since 2000-2001 . If the program is going in the right direction then we will be great and have top 15 classes. There are a zillion players in Miami who are great so we will also lose more then we win but so does every team. We MUST win the kids who we actually have a shot at. There will always be players like Jeudy who are local but we have no shot at but we need to win the ones we do actually local or not. I believe we will if we win.

Why don't we give these guys a chance. Did we know how Hartley, Dugans and Brown were as recruiters before they started?

I think Hickson would do fine recruiting down here. He played high school in broward county and coached high school down here.

I agree there needs to be one big name, proven tri-county recruiters amongst the last 2 hires...And the other needs to be young and energetic as well.

Sounds like our cornerback coach.

Meanwhile Tim Brewster had a 2 year run where he killed it. Eddie Gran has had a big career recruiting down here, etc, etc...

We will finally be able to put to rest the argument of is it winning or “elite” recruiters that get these kids if Manny really turns this program around
