Who are the "Elite" Recruiters on Manolo's Staff?

Ultimately, the players! All-ACC years from
Jordan TE
Lingard/DJ RB
Hall/Carter SS
Shaq/Pinckney LB
Donaldson OL
Nester DT
Ivey CB
Bandy CB

The best recruiter is proof. Recruits need to see what you're selling works.

Over the last 15 years we have lost many of the elite recruits coming out of South Florida (Petersen, Dalvin Cook, Cooper, Jeudy, Alex Collins, Teddy and many more just to name a few). Part of the reason is lack of winning. If we win, they will come (at least some of them). I think we'll win more than 7-6 going forward, but not make it to the CFB anytime soon.

Banda is suppose to be an elite recruiter. Who else? Enos? Hickson? Baker? Butch Barry doesn't appear to have the attributes of a good recruiter, unless we are talking bovines.

This is very concerning. Thoughts?

I would argue that it is more than winning - it is about the style of play. Is it an exciting brand of football or is it 3 yards and cloud of dust boring style. Win with exciting style and all of our recruiters will seem like Ace recruiters!

Richt was an elite recruiter at UGA and still struggled to lock down south Florida after a 10 win season. It’s impossible to lock down south Florida in this day

I thought we had our Ace/Elite recruiter?

I am just kidding!!!!!

Every time this program has hired coaches based on recruiting ability, it has blown up in their face. You win games and you don't need to sell the program.

We don't have one. Rumph is like our highest rated recruiter this cycle.

Our on field product and players are going to have to do the recruiting for the next few cycles. We need to whoop every Coastal team by a minimum of 3 TD's, and we have to do it in style. If we can score 70, we need to go for it.

While it would be nice

Hartley, the guy everyone’s crying over, missed this year too once everything spiraled out of control

Win and they’ll come, just like last year

Your RB, WR/TE and DB coaches have to be aces. I want my line guys, QB coach, and my coordinators to be Xs and Os and technical geniuses. Rumph puts us at a recruiting deficit right off the bat in that regard - most CB coaches are your recruiting monsters and he is clearly not that. WR hire is absolutely critical. No clue what the thinking was with the RB coach but certainly we should give him the benefit of the doubt. On defense, it seems the new DC has that rep - we will see because we sorely lack there and our defensive recruiting has not been sufficient the last couple years IMO - especially at LB which should scare all of us a bit. I think Banda is ok and will do well if we can get some credibility in the win column. He and Rumph are very fortunate in that South Florida “second tier” (I use that term relatively - I love guys like Ivey and Bandy that aren’t Surtain/Campbell in recruiting ciecles) can play with anyone anywhere. Sprinkle in some studs like a Gurvan here and a Bolden there and we should always have a 1st rate secondary.

Gotta get a monster recruiter at WR coach. Absolutely have to. Right now this is a very valid concern.

Good to see the worlds pettiest mod is still on my neck. Stay hating Swagger.

Hope you don't search out all of my posts to downvote them again 😩

Don't forget feels like a family, or business decision for me and my family

You guys put too much stock into “elite recruiters” recruiting is usually a matter of circumstances and not individual skills. It’s easy to be a good recruiter at a program that’s winning and that has a good tradition and good national perception. You put the same people that recruit well in those programs in other lesser programs and they’ll seem ***. Think James Coley for example. He’s UGA’s ace apparaently but when he was here he was average at best. If you change the programs national perception and win then your staff will seem like better recruiters.

Hickson by those that cove south florida recruiting is seen as a great recruiter so is enos its easy to recruit to bama/Clemson/Oklahoma when uc an get 4stars to Kansas state or Arkansas u doing real work. people act like if u don't come from an easy to recruit school u cant recruit because all u landed was 3 stars and ocassional 4 star and that's not true some schools aka k state, are harder to recruit to no base in state for one and have to recruit all over to get kids if u can land a 3 star at k state u can get kids to Miami

Win games = win with recruits

Sure there's a fair amount of person to person, building rapport, and growing relationships - but the first step, the thing that opens the door is winning. If the team is not winning, the opportunity to sell the program isn't even there. This isn't a chicken or egg scenario - winning is requisite.

My thoughts exactly.

What folks dont get foreal is that cb/rb coach HAVE TO BE RECRUITERS. There's know well he can coach them up..or is a technician...because it DOESNT matter at those 2 spots that much. You have to be an ace and able to cross recruit regardless of position. Hartley sort of was that in a sense. But guys at those spot have to be such good recruiters that they can pull an ol if need be.

I think we need a solid REcruiting ACE with the next pick up on staff. Hickson i believe will be able to be solid in Broward for us...him working else where as well may have helped him be able to make some coaching connects nationally ...but ultimately he will be our Broward guy.

Agree. TBH, Manny needs the WRC hire to be a top notch recruiter. Every staff has that great recruiter (1 at least). So far, I don't see one on this staff....period.
