Who are Some Top Offensive Coordinators We Could Shoot For?

Why do many of us assume Richt will not make any changes to his staff? What is Richt's history at UGA in regards to assistants? Was he surrounded by the same staff for all 15 years?

Perhaps because Golden never fired a coach?

I think it would be natural for an established coach to think his system will work over time, and I doubt the AD is going to put pressure on him to make any changes. I don't think it's an indictment on Richt the way it is on Golden, but it seems as unlikely because it's his first year.

Perhaps. It is also natural for a coach, first year or not, to evaluate himself and his staff at the end of every season. If Miami were to crash and burn at 4-8 I can't imagine he'd take a 'stay the course' route. How could he sell that, even to himself? I doubt he'd hire an OC with a radically different scheme but I can see him making staff changes. Some of the offensive assistants he hired weren't his first choice.

The NCAA has a proposal to expand coaching staffs from 9 to 10. Another offensive coach could be the addition.

In terms of who we could actually get at discount and would want to be in Miami, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Ken Dorsey.
Why does it have to be at a discount? We're paying Brown's five year experience position coach *** $600k. Diaz was an experienced DC at an SEC school, and we paid him enough to leave there.

Rix hung onto Willie Martinez as his DC for several years after his expiration date. He had to be forced to run him off.

An interesting pipe dream hire that won't happen; would be Helfrich if Oregon sends him packing.

Instead of an oc get a new o line coach. Some equal to our d like couch in terms of experience. Would seem like a more logical move

Fair enough. Thanks.

Just knowing this admin, I'm assuming they paid Richt a healthy salary because they thought they were getting a two for one. A top OC is going for about a mil, they probably thought they were getting both for 4.

I'm not jumping to conclusions, there's a pretty lengthy history of this administration miscalculating salaries. Putting pressure on him to hire an OC would essentially be spending a half mil over budget.

I think it's more likely to be the other way around IF there is any change, Richt can sense blood in the water and has to beg them to add money to his budget to bring in another coach.

Hire an OC.
Send Jon packing.
Change Brown's responsibilities to RBs and 'running game coordinator'. Leave his title intact.
Replace Searles with the OL coaching equivalent of Coach Kool.

**** with Rick's job security he can have his pick! Jedd Fisch is not leaving Mich for a lateral move. Look out for Mike Bobo because CSU may give him his walking papers. Rick will still calll the plays but needs help with game management and planning. Right now we run 1 play maybe 2.

He won't go back to CEO he would rather retire in that case. This is a guy who is financially secure I mean he donated $1 million for the new facilities. Why not make him AD and fire Blake?

Umm, Michigan OC to Miami OC is a lateral move? How so?

Stick at Michigan and I bet you get to be "the OC" of a national champion team sooner or later (and that makes you marketable). I also bet Michigan pays better than us.

Marc Trestman started his coaching career at Miami and has been a great QB coach as well as OC. HE is available now and was Richt coach at Miami when grad assistant. He learned under Howard, Earl Morrall, Gary Stephens and then Bill Walsh. He had 2 QB,s as NFL MVP in Rich Gannon and Steve Young. He was Bernie Kosar,s QB coach at Miami

I like Trestman a lot, but always wondered if he had the right personality to be either HC or OC at Miami. He comes across as pretty cerebral. I'm fine with that in a QB coach, but wonder how it would play out as OC.

Trestman is too smart for these clowns.

Since you're qualified to make the call that Richt isn't good enough to run the offense seven games into the season, surely you should have a list of candidates that would do a fantastic job.

You guys realize Richt likely spent all the $ he had on staff right? So unless he is gonna fire a bunch or ask Blake for another $600-$1M for a OC, we aren't getting one.

Then he should offer to take a million dollar cut, and bring in an offensive GURU.

Fisch isn't the OC at Michigan. Tim Drevno is, at least in name. Fisch is the passing game coordinator and WR/QB coach.
