Who are some possibilities to replace Shalala?

Chelsea Clinton - she's recently "unemployed", has zero qualifications, could be genetically predisposed to concealed rug munching, may possibly dig scars, yet cannot distinguish futbol from football. Perfect fit, no?

It would make recruiting interesting. Once you commit, there is no such thing as de-commit.

I've heard that Barney Frank is seriously considering taking the job...BOT members like him but find him a bit too aggressive for the type of University and program we've become...
 
I think the president of Youngstown State is ready for a promotion. Along that line (and more realistic), I've predicted before that Gordon Gee and his bow tie might get serious consideration. The BoT will be smitten with the Vandy part of his resume and the guy probably is ready to get the **** out of West Virginia. I personally wouldn't be ecstatic about the hire but at least he'd have shown some sort of past inclination to be pro football and athletics.

Jeb Bush already took his name out of contention. If they're going the political route then maybe someone like Mel Martinez would get a look.

If Thrasher gets it, the faculty at FSU will spontaneously combust. Talk about putting the good old boy network ahead of academia. Would be a monumental error if the trustees have any interest in improving the prestige of that university up north.

Not sure if serious. There's no question. She's relatively young, brilliant, connected, and she understands academia and fundraising. She also is a major football fan who has obviously made an impression in that space as evidenced by her inclusion in the selection committee.
