His kick off return vs UF was probably the most electric single play I’ve experienced with Miami football. I was 12 and it still gets my hyped when I watch it
he ran the kick back against UF in his first game. so it must have been a UF coach who did it.It was Florida STATE. At the end of the video he talks about running the kickoff back and looking at the coach he believe did it.
That and the McGahee screen against fsuHis kick off return vs UF was probably the most electric single play I’ve experienced with Miami football. I was 12 and it still gets my hyped when I watch it
I think it was the loudest I ever heard the OB.His kick off return vs UF was probably the most electric single play I’ve experienced with Miami football. I was 12 and it still gets my hyped when I watch it
That's pretty dirty I wonder which coach it was. This feels like something uf would do. Does anyone remember who else was recruiting devin hard?
It was the POS Amato.....Hence Hester going 105yds on their ***...and staring down NCSTs sideline (Amato)The guy who can get us the answer to this is @caneinorlando
Go back and listen to the video. The RUNBACK was against the Gaytors, but Devin said that he looked into the camera to "respond" to the coach, so it's not a Gaytor coach. The official visits he took (besides Miami) were F$U, UGa, NC State, and Purdue.
Now, I don't know if Devin was recruited by a position coach or what, but it seems somewhat unlikely that F$U or UGa had coaches with "jobs on the line" if they didn't land Hester.
NC State or Purdue seem somewhat more likely.
Now, let me run something else past you...the HC at NC State at the time was Chucky Red Shoes, who was as slimy as they come when he was at F$U. Amato was the guy who sent the package to LaVar Arrington with all of the articles on Marlin Barnes' murder. Let's also not forget, although Chucky Man-**** had a good 2002 season, his 2000 and 2001 seasons were not all-world, so I could definitely see some pressure building for the Wolfpack coaches.
Again, we should reach out to @caneinorlando he can get to the bottom of this, but without any other hints, my money is on Chucky-boy Amato and/or someone working for Chucky.
I always thought the story was about a former teammate of Hester who played at NC State and told him that he wouldnt return a kick back to the house.Chuck Amato and/or Buddy Greene at NCST
Hester was a guest speaker at a camp I went to back in HS and told the story. Greene’s job was on the line I believe and he went on to be fired (supposedly because he didn’t land Hester - his defense was actually pretty good and improving while he was there)

If that is true...for that, may their purgatory be extended for decades more.

Looked at the NC State bench from about the NCST 40 yard line. This dude was something else.
Amato was showing Pics of Marlin Barnes Crime scene to recruits when at FSU in 95.....8yrs later....Devin took care of business....
You forget just how electric Hester was.
