I subscribe to the theory that resumes matter if we want to play at the highest level.

All of y'all wanting FSU to lose every game will be the same guys ing about why the pundits won't give Miami credit for winning the ACC. If you want Miami winning the ACC to matter, then our opponents have to be considered good teams.

I swear, some of y'all are so accustomed to Miami being bad that you want company in the middle of the pack for college football teams.

After we can carry our own argument for being a juggernaut of a program, then FSU can lose all the games they want. But, right now, we need them to be good when we win for it to matter.

And for those of y'all doubting me ... Go back to Al Golden's "signature win" against Florida. Yeah, it made us feel great. But NOBODY gave us any credit for that win because that Florida team sucked!

Also ... Feel free to visit any thread extolling the Jacory Harris led Canes beating FSU, and you'll invariably get a series of "it didn't matter because they sucked" responses.

So, yeah ...

If you believe Miami has an outside shot at being in the playoff conversation, you better hope FSU wins. Whether you like it or not. Resume is everything in college football these days and beating an undefeated FSU means more than beating a 1 loss FSU. Put your feelings to the side and think about this logically.

Clemson lost to Pitt and made the playoffs.

Beat FSU and everyone else we're supposed to beat and win the Coastal, and we're in the mix for the playoffs regardless of what FSU does against Baga in week 1.

I do not agree.

Did Washington get punished for losing to USC even though they got blasted by Bama opening week?

(The answer is no.)

As long as Miami takes care of business and wins the ACC with no more than 1 loss they should be in the Playoffs.
I think it is that simple.
Rooting for F$U should not even be part of the discussion.

Enough with the "I want an undefeated FSU" nonsense they'd be 2-0, and don't worry everyone I've read expects FSU to beat Miami regardless of the Bama outcome.

alright, fine.

how about if FSU just plays bama close? let them lose 6-3. that way all you guys can still feel good when miami beats fsu. will that work?

We are not making the playoffs this year. I'd be happy if FSU and ND lose all their games

There was SIGNIFICANT discussion about leaving Washington out of the playoffs!

The only reason it didn't happen, in my opinion, is because they didn't want to deal with the grief of putting 2 B1G teams (Ohio State and Michigan) in the playoffs who didn't win the conference, or a 2-loss PSU team.

But a 1-loss Washington team being a 4-seed actually proves my point. The conference resume matters!

I don't care if FSU is 0-2 when we play them. I just want to beat them so this nightmare's finally over.

It does not matter much as long as Miami takes care of business.
If you want to root for F$U go ahead.
People just don't need to spread that sort of mentality to others by saying we all need to do it, when we don't.

Fsu... Never for why people want them to be undefeated when we play them. Hope they never win a ******* game

We don't want the hardest game on our schedule to have a lose in week 1 against arguably a top team every year. SOS helps with them winning. Think long term not short

Long term as in what?? Stop! Miami is not making the playoffs this year. Baby steps man, baby steps.

We should get not one but two shots at FSU this year. I think it will very difficult for either team to win both games. Ergo:

A perfect scenario would be an 11-1 Miami team beating a 12-0 FSU team that beat Bama, Clemson and Louisville in the ACCCG. That puts us in the playoffs.
