We don't want the hardest game on our schedule to have a lose in week 1 against arguably a top team every year. SOS helps with them winning. Think long term not short

So you want the hardest team on our schedule to have increased confidence and buzz when we go there with a freshman QB? You also want our biggest rival to gain positive buzz which will help their recruiting. There's nothing good that comes out of FSU winning.

Tell me what narrative sounds better:
Man did you see we beat FSU this year we are the best team in the state play here. Ya coach but FSU was down this year they lost to bama also.
Or
Did you see we beat FSU this year after they beat bama. See we can play with the big boys just a few guys away from winning it all.

Every single person in this thread who wants fsu to win should never ever post here again and find another team to root for, because you're not a Miami Hurricane fan deep down. Check yo self out of here.

It's not like it used to be. Where all you had to do was win. Now you need help and people look at how hard your schedule was to vote you into things. Bama loses to FSU and hopefully some $ec team and that may actually take them out of playoff talk.
Would you be ****ed if we went undefeated and a one loss bama team (lose to lsu in championship game), undefeated osu, Washington and $ec champion LSU got in over us? Bama with two losses is pretty much the only way they don't get in.

I would love an Alabaga loss out of the gate. Dings the $EC and sets us up to be even more overlooked heading into Trailerhussy.

I think Dan Sileo got this forum back in 1987. The path to a title is just different now. We play FSU and have a chance to beat them, we don't play Alabama who's made the playoffs every year. This is a no brainer.

I want FSU and UF to lose, as I'm sure most Canes fans do. I will never root for them unless it directly would benefit Miami.

for all you guys cheering for FSU to beat Bama.

will you then go on to cheer for Bama the rest of their season? because if they dont go 11-1, then that FSU win over them that you pulled so hard for wont mean ****

If you believe Miami has an outside shot at being in the playoff conversation, you better hope FSU wins. Whether you like it or not. Resume is everything in college football these days and beating an undefeated FSU means more than beating a 1 loss FSU. Put your feelings to the side and think about this logically.

Clemson lost to Pitt and made the playoffs.

Beat FSU and everyone else we're supposed to beat and win the Coastal, and we're in the mix for the playoffs regardless of what FSU does against Baga in week 1.

If Miami wins out it doesn't matter. But let me play devils advocate. Let's say Bama beats FSU and Miami wins the coastal but drops one game (let's say Pitt) along the way. Then they beat FSU again in the ACC title game. If there's any type of logjam in the playoff mix, it's going to be tough to argue getting in with the biggest victory of the season against a 3 loss (minimum) FSU team.

If Miami played a tougher schedule this year, I'd say who gives a **** if FSU loses to Bama. However, since FSU is the ONLY marquee opponent on the schedule this year, it's imperative that they stay as highly ranked as possible.

Now, none of it matters if Miami doesn't make a push for a playoff invitation.

False. Clemson lost to Pitts and still made to the playoffs/ship.

For Miami, just win, simple as that. No matter who the opponents are and/or how they performed against other teams.

for actual miami fans, simple = cheering for miami to win & cheering for FSU/UF to lose.

LOL at a loss to Bama meaning your program is down.

if you honestly need a narrative to help you cheer against FSU, how about this:

FSU plays Bama tough for all 4 quarters, losing 6 starters throughout the game, & falls in a heart breaker for fake canes 12-9 by way of a last second field goal.

feel better?

Alabama winning does nothing for Miami.

FSU winning significantly bumps Miami's strength of schedule.

I know nobody wants to see FSU win but in this case, it helps Miami.

Bull crap. FSU winning significantly boosts their image in recruits eyes. Winning over a 11-1 fsu and 10-2 fsu makes no difference in strength of schedule.

There is no good in your biggest rival winning a game of that magnitude

So if Florida beats Michigan and goes on to win the SEC East ...

and Florida State beats Alabama, Clemson and Florida ...

and we beat FSU, well then UF winning in Week #1 helps us.

See how ridiculous all this sounds?

How 'bout we handle our business -- ***** what the Turds and Holes do.

Lol who would say any of those things. Fact is we either beat FSU or we didn't. Beating Bama in a Kickoff game only makes FSU look better. It doesn't make us look better.

Some of you guys get so emotional over **** like this, it's comical-- measuring their "fan" penises. It's Alabama vs. Florida State, one of them is going to lose, hurray! Who really gives a **** which one??? Can't wait to get back to the day when we just handled our business.

we have at least 61 FSU fans on this board.

sad!

All you can do is shake your head at some of the stupidity being written here.

No way,no time,no way in **** do you EVER hope for a Nole,a ****,or a domer to win......I don't care what it means.

We beat the noles then win the acccg we are in no matter if the noles lose EVERY game( if that could only become true) and if your hoping otherwise you need to turn in your Cane Fan card.

We're now nearly a handful of votes from this board voting for Bama to beat FSU.

We should get not one but two shots at FSU this year. I think it will very difficult for either team to win both games. Ergo:

A perfect scenario would be an 11-1 Miami team beating a 12-0 FSU team that beat Bama, Clemson and Louisville in the ACCCG. That puts us in the playoffs.
Yes, but it also puts FSU in the playoffs...for a possible 3rd game. If 12-1 FSU has wins over AL, Clemson, Louisville, Florida and a home win over a 12-1 Miami (especially, if AL & FL play for SEC title)...they're in.
