And this is why the question is really interesting to me. I agree that Taylor was an exceptional talent, but I don't know that he was a superior draft prospect to a Dan Morgan. Ed Reed showed us glimpses in college, but not the totality of what he eventually displayed in the NFL, same with Ray Lewis. We've been so spoiled that we overlook Kennedy, Sapp, Hendricks, Brown, Bennie Blades, Edge, Irvin, Kelly, Dre Johnson, etc... There are just so many.

When guys like Mike Barrow and Eddie Brown might not crack your school's all time lineup, you've got a **** of a school.

Morgan certainly came to mind and I can't shake my bias knowing his career didn't pan out due to injury. That said, I chose Taylor because of his versatility. You put that dude anywhere on the field and he's capable. He could probably kick field goals if you asked him to.

coming into the season it was GR, after the season and pro day give me Phillips. Phillips look to be the better pro as of now but GR has a higher ceiling if he gets with the right team.

No hate on Rousseau but why do people keep spewing this narrative of his "ceiling" is higher than Phillips??

Phillips was the #1 recruit in the nation based on potential. His measurables are off the charts. His ceiling is about as high as it gets IMO.

Both will be incredible, both have extremely high ceilings. I just don't see Rousseau's being higher.

I think Phillips has more athleticism (and probably a better motor) but Rousseau has unreal length. I think we saw most of what Phillips can do last year (yeah, he'll get better, but I don't think by much) and I think we've only scratched the surface of what Rousseau can do.

Didn't Rousseau only start playing football in like 10th grade?

I don't think I take either in the first round. If I was a GM I would question Phillips retirement and would feel like I needed to see more of Rousseau. Phillips is the least risky take. His physical tools are A1 but can he stop the run consistently or is he a pass rushing only DE who has trouble making adjustments. I expected better numbers out of Phillips in college especially being so physically gifted. He will never have that physical surplus again in his career. Rousseau performance was A1 in college but does his size limit him in the pros? Really wanted to see more of how Rousseau performs against top notch (NFL Caliber) competition. That being said I hope the fins get em both.

Phillips, as long as the medicals check out, is very legit and has a full skillset ready to ball out in the NFL. Rousseau is a lot of projection and very raw. Lots to work with, obviously, but he's a riskier assessment. The lack of bend on tape that coincides with his less than desirable 3Cone and its definitely something that limits his projection as a pure EDGE prospect. I've said before, but I think he's a better prospect as a projectable 5 technique end in a 34.

It depends on your defense. If you run a 3-4 you take Rousseau. If you run a 4-3 you take Phillips. Rousseau is the best defensive player in the draft. Nobody will convince me otherwise.
Now that's a hot take. I have not heard one person say that but you. Hope Greg balls out though but I think Phillips is a more complete football player IMO but I can't say either it he best defensive player in the draft. Hope they end up as the 2 best though, good for the program.

I take production over a couple tenths in the 40 every time. Yes, Phillips had a good season, but what GR did in 2019 was off the charts. 15 sacks and didn't even start the season as a starter? That's crazy. What he can do at his size with his length is something that just won't show up in testing.
Yeah nobody seems to bring this up. GR's season blows Phillips season away and GR didn't even start the first 4 games. hahah

This is a bit tougher than I originally imagined. I guess I'll say Phillips due to the fact that he's pretty much been dominant his whole football career. GR15 is more so built from potential. GR might very well surpass Phillips but I have to go with what's been proven.
GR has done more in 1 year than Phillips has done in 3 years of college.

If you go by sack ability/count only Rousseau would be the pick. As an overall football player I lean Phillips and he just plays harder IMO. I'm sure GMs are having this same discussion and they can't agree either. Seems like the latest mocks have been leaning Phillips way, maybe because he played the season, who knows.

See this puzzles me. So you're saying this season below shows that he's raw? Well dam then wait till he actually learns how to play. You just proved GR is better without even trying.

As a redshirt freshman in 2019, he recorded 15.5 sacks and won all-conference honors and was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Here we go again with this. So now Phillips plays harder even though his stats aren't even close to what GR did.

WOW I've seen it all. CIS never disappoints. LOL

One more caveat when comparing stats, Phillips 2020 did not play near as many games as Rousseau 2019 and was backed up by the worst linebacking group in the ACC. I'm sure he was the guy teams game planned against.

He looked to play harder/faster/with more passion to me and plenty others.......... relaxxxx buddy, you GRs sister or girlfriend? I hope they both ball in the NFL, but I personally think Phillips is the better choice and so do a lot of experts, no need to get fired up about a discussion.

And GR didn't start in 2019 but still blew Phillips season out of the water,
