Living in Little Rock area I must say I enjoyed both beat downs of Arkansas in War Memorial. The 87 game stood as Arkansas worse home loss by point margin until Bama beat it a few years ago.

I loved the OB, but I think lovers of the OB underplay that the 2017 game was one of the best atmospheres of all-time. Herbie on the broadcast said he hadn’t heard a louder environment. Even the squids over on the Domer board were in awe. Can’t wait for more of these games.View attachment 247817
Ah…the stadium half-full default mechanism…
UVA attendance the next week was 64k (HRS cap- 65k)

Just sticking with the 2, although thoroughly enjoying Ara being a hypocritical whining little *****, I gotta go with ‘17.
ND was a top 5 team. There was a lot of built-up emotion that night.

We need to get back to delivering beatin’s like that “on the regular”.

I would have put ‘89 if it was an option.
Natty implications always trump. We didn’t finish in ‘85 or ‘17.
We won the Natty that night in ‘89.

Neither.

Mistress Helga. Stockholm. 1998.

She punished me like the dirty little piggy that I am.

Houston was destroying teams, and the Cougars coach talked about coming out into the field with a chain wrapped around his hand. Miami wasn’t given that much credit and we absolutely obliterated them. It really ended Houston as a respectable program for about a decade and a half, I was their that night and it was a big game atmosphere.
HOUSTON SUCK!! HOUSTON SUCKS!! lol all game baby

I'm only 31 years old so I missed most of the glory years. 2000-2001 was the year I got into college football and what made me love Miami. In my adult life where I truly understood football, the 2017 ND game is probably the highlight of my college football fandom. I went into school insufferable the next week lol.

My favorite game is 1994 FSU.

#2 is 2003 UF and #3 is 1998 UCLA.

1991 FSU is the greatest game in CFB history, and with 1992 FSU the greatest back-to-back rivalry games ever.

A couple of underrated games are 1996 Syracuse and 1998 WVU. Real "heart and soul" efforts.

I'm in the "anytime we beat ND is a great day crowd" Fill in the blank with FSU and several others as well. Go Canes 🏈

UCLA was epic as well. Feeling the OB rumble...

Incredible.

I mean honestly there are no wrong answers, lol. For me it was 1985 after all the years ND used this game as a "getaway" when visiting Miami. I know they pummeled ND 20-0 in '83 I believe in the OB, but the '85 beating was in front a former coach and a coach on his way out. A real thing of beauty on all accounts.

Look, I love our young fans. But our young fans have NO IDEA about that 1985 beating. Unfortunately for me, this happened after I had chosen to come to UM, but before I enrolled, so I missed the in-person fun. But I truly appreciated the beat-down.

It wasn't just the "score", in and of itself. It was the whole setting.

We won the title in 1983 and then Schnells stepped down to take a USFL job that fell through. JJ had to keep the entire prior coaching staff in 1984, and the chemistry was terrible (and the outcomes too). So by 1985, the college football world was treating 1983 like some big fluke, something that could never happen again.

And Notre Dame started chirping before the game, and at that time, JJ was PETTY AS ****. He wasn't going to call off the dogs, he was going to pour it on with Faust and ND no matter what.

Worst ND loss in 41 years (at that time). **** 'em.

And the response from the press corp was pusillanimous too. Look at this bullcrap, I wonder whatever happened to this bald, twerpy sportswriter?

I know we blew houston out with their heisman QB. What was the significance at that time?

The signficance was that we were coming off of our "worst season in years" (1990, when we lost TWO games) and it was Erickson's third year, so people are starting to predict that Miami comes back to earth as all the JJ-era recruits were moving on to the NFL.

And though we were about to enter the Big East (we wore the "patch" in 1991, but we only played TWO Big East teams), we were being told that we had joined a weak conference, and that we were not prepared for Houston's offense (let's not forget that Erickson was an "offensive guru" and our defense was supposed to be our "weak point").

Yeah, that nonsense didn't last long. We absolutely wrecked Houston like we had wrecked Texas the year before. That year and a couple of years before/after is what convinced certain teams to stop scheduling Miami.

Fugg 'em...

And this bald eagle and no one else said a word when ND used to rag doll Miami in the 60's & 70's

It’s from 2017 I believe, I screenshot it when I was on their board enjoying the tears some time after the game. I’m not sure how to find it now. He was off that the next game was empty. As I remember UVA the next week being packed as @OrangeBowlMagic pointed out as well.
