Whew!!! Canes Storm Back!!! My thoughts...

I never believed UM would blow out FSU, not only is it a rivalry game but I thought FSU had settled itself a bit. Unreal second half by the defense, I mean, after the Noles went up 27-7, you could just feel the air get taken out of the balloon and it looked ugly

- But those blue-chip defenders of Manny Diaz from Willis, Shaq, Pinkney, Thriller Jackson, Jacquan, all made plays. But I really felt late in the game that Joe Jax and the Garvinator really took over this game and Francois was shook. He's a gutty, skilled QB but you can tell he felt their presence on pass downs. They played as advertised today and Diaz called a strong game in my view.

- As for the offense, well..... hey Miami won!!

- It's clear to me that till UM gets the Oline that Richt wants, what he runs will always struggle a bit because for the time being they cant create consistent running lanes. But they created a push late when they absolutely needed it and Travis Homer sealed it

- Perry hit some key throws but again, we'll have to live with his growing pains. He missed some wide open throws today. But that 3rd down throw to Jeff Thomas and the TD to Jordan were clutch. Again, we can't pull him, we have to ride or die with his mistakes and hope he develops. He will be better for this experience(hopefully)

And Jeff 'the Jet' Thomas, the guy is special, That's all I can say. I love watching him play

- Great to see 'Choc' Gray make some key contributions in his final season. He is 'the First Down Maker'

- Brevin 'Korean Air Jordan grew up right b4 our eyes today

- Special teams, all I'm gonna say is where have you gone Joe Pannunzuio and Dave Arnold. I'll just leave it at that. I have never seen such a poorly coached unit in my life.

- Hey, it was a struggle but you know what they say about beating your rival - it beats losing

Honestly, Im still numb that the Canes somehow willed their way to victory.

The OL played better when Scaife went to RT and Donaldson back to guard. Maybe, this should be permanent.

I’ve basically resigned myself to the fact that we are going to need a completely dominant OL to field a consistent offense against teams with similar athleticism and size. Richt doesn’t have that but he’s always going to call plays like he does. That’s just how he does things.

I usually think Richt takes too much heat for his play calling, but today was just terrible with respect to play calling.

My one gripe about this offensive system is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of easy, quick throws to get our QB's into a groove. I watch other games across the country and it seems like things are made much easier for quarterbacks

If there was more hangtime and not so many line-drives, coverage would def improve. On the other hand, a few missed tackles were rather irksome on coverage.

the lane integrity on the coverage units was bad, also leveraging/forcing the returners to certain areas into other tacklers(or lack thereof) was poor. I mean, this just overall is a terribly coached unit on all levels

Please correct me if I'm wrong; I figure the hangtime is extra important (besides More=better) because the coverage units need to adjust somehow... if it's a linedrive do one thing, if it's a tower punt, do something different. And yeah that would seem to be part of preparation and training (good coaching. ) Which is what you are saying overall.

One wild game that I’m not sure my old *** heart could take more than once a year. But as someone noted these are games we used to lose not win.

Bad news is we probably get jumped in the polls again.Voters just gonna see that we barely snuck by against a team that has struggled against ****** competition all year and was a 2 TD underdog.

BUT it’s a W....it’s better than an L.

Oh, no argument there, I mean the punts aren't very good either, that is absolutely a factor. And the only time it seemed we got punts with any height and distance, they were kicked out of bounds, lol

Where have you gone Freddie Capshaw?

The we need a new kicker people are crazy. Bubba is going to be fine.

The most important quality of a good kicker is making kicks. A close second is how he reacts when he misses one. It wasn't even a game winning/tying kick that Bubba missed, and he was blatantly psychologically destroyed. That doesn't work.

Say what you want about Badgley's mediocrity, but you could never tell when he was rattled. It was the reverse actually. Fans got ****ed that he never had that defeated reaction to big misses.

He’s a freshman, he will be fine

And running past the punt reciever ... multiple times ... I would have nailed him to the turf after the first time he pulled that **** .... if you get thrown out from the game... do it for something that will fire the team up

After Bubba missed that FG in the 4th, he was sitting on the bench looking like he just witnessed Lexington Steele bukakke his mom.

We need a kicker and a punter STAT.
you're an idioit. freshman kicker that missed a field goal. I'm guessing that you are perfect at your job every day every time. stay behind your keyboard , your are a great warrior..

Taking that delay of game because you’re too busy dancing to “Crank That” might have been the most Miami and CFB thing to have ever happened

In the stands, we didn’t even realize the penalty happened. Just all of a sudden noticed the ball was backed up a few yards, but never even gave it a second thought. The scene was wild at that moment. **** that was a fun night.

I like the kid showing some emotion, it means he cares. Would you rather have Badgley's smiling *** after missing a **** extra point back? Bubba's just a freshman he'll get it together.

agreed, I want the best 5 upfront and to not rotate so much
Glad someone said what I saw during the game. Once navaughn went to guard and Scaife took over at RT the O settled down. The one item that was confirmed by CMR was when we were inside the 5 and needed the 1st down Manny talked to CMR about not scoring if Homer got the first down that way we run the clock out. If we score it gives FSU enough time on the clock to try a come back.

Just a couple more things after re-watching some of the game:

- Diaz had his unit playing very disciplined, after that first screen on 3rd and long, for the most part Taggart's screen game was fished out nicely by the defense. Thats great preparation and execution from this side of the ball

- Coach Simpson, kudos to him. Yeah, Kool had this great history but I see no drop-off in the play of this talented Dline. Joe Jax and Garvin are playing at an All-American level and G-Willis at an Outland Trophy level.

- Offense has to find ways to get Jeff Thomas more involved. For as spectacular as he is, for long stretches he's not involved enough. This guy is Santana Moss 2.0(yeah, I said it)

- People keep talking about Cager's last drop on that crossing route in the 4th quarter. Honestly, while those others were drops on the high-point passes(which should be his specialty) that last one I felt the ball was thrown a bit low and too hard. Yeah, it hit him in the gut but again, I thought it was thrown with a bit too much velocity given the distance of the throw. I think down the line as Perry settles in, he'll feel more comfortable adding touch to those passes
