Where is the TE in this Offense?

I know people love to gripe about every single thing when losses pile up.

Our best TE has been hurt. Riley is a true freshman. He had a crucial drop on 3rd down last week, did have a TD. You will have inconsistencies with him being a true freshman.

Cam is a blocker.

Skinner can't block or catch, so there's that.

The non use of a TE with current roster situation(injury, youth, 1 dimensional blocker), isn't the issue here, it's getting the TE off field, and going 4 Wide with 4 WRs.

Maybe, but I'm not understanding what we are selling to the tight ends on our roster or those that we are recruiting. After six games, they collectively have 5 receptions and nine targets. That's nothing. That's a wide receiver in a Navy offense.

So is it temporary? Hopefully. If not, what are we selling?
What we are selling is we don't have any TEs worth a **** is why the TEs aren't getting touches and that provides a huge playing time opportunity for incoming players.

We currently have a blocking TE, an injured TE who has played 5 snaps this season, a glorified WR who can't block nor catch, and then true freshman.

I think it’s starting to slowly transition back to what Mario wants to be. Bully ball between the tackles. The last two games was as vanilla as it gets in the run game. Our OL can’t move the two DL’s we’ve played with talent.
If that's true why didn't we see the same run plays we saw in the previous games?

We attacked all areas with our run game and now Mario said, no?

IIRC the worry with Dawson was his run game was unimaginative similar to Lashlee.

This doesn't add up from the outside looking in. Pulling OL were few and far between last two games, that's been a staple of Mario run games throughout his career.

Not only that, but were is the check down to the running back? TVD complete ignores Parrish and Chaney all the time. Easily could’ve checked it down for 5 yards or more. SMH

Again this seems more like a Dawson thing. TVD went to Knighton no problem in 2021.

Not only this but there's a lack of imagination with the running game period that has carried over from previous head corches and offensive corchinators.

If EVERY wrinkle in that aspect of your gameplan ONLY transpires AFTER the back receives the ball in some minor variation of a draw and runs straight into the line then you're absolutely handcuffing the offense and a RB room that was assumed to be very deep.

6 games in now imo to maximize the personnel it would be best for Mario and crew to base out of 4 wr’s set.

mccormick is a great story but he shouldn't play except when were trying to run the ball down the other team's throat and at the goal line. if teams r gonna zone us on account of TVD then we need williams as option sitting down in the soft spots in middle of the field. hopefully arroyo is finally good to go next week

People run to narratives, it's exhausting to read. Either Mario is the ultimate micromanager, that saw how the offense worked against TAMU and decided to go away from it, or Dawson is holding TEs back for no reason. Occam's razor rarely fails and said razor indicates that the TEs aren't getting targets because TVD can't read a D and unlike last year, where TVD went long stretches without X, he has him available, so he's force feeding. Keep in mind, Miami runs a lot of 2 TE sets and that's the case even in passing situations, it's that TVD doesn't target them. He barely targets Colbie and Jacolby as is, even though they have been productive.

I noticed that even in limited action Williams actually looks for the TE, maybe because he isn't locking onto one particular receiver. I'm not suggesting that TVD eats the bench, but this passing game would be a lot more effective if he wasn't trying to help X make a NFL highlight reel, at the expense of the offense.

Who at Miami or that is in Mario's circle can tell him this ish ain't working and he listen? That's all I want to know.

Williams was running along the front of the end zone parallel to scrambling TVD begging for the ball and a TD. TVD just pitched it out inexplicably.

What was he thinking? TVD is brain dead. His thought process at times seems to be, where's X? Not X, cannot throw to man not named X. It's weird.

I'd actually be interested to see percentages of how he spreads it around when we're down. Seems he just keeps going back to the same well.
I believe I saw X was targeted 17? times last night out of 48 attempts. Don’t know if when they clocked it counted as an attempt. He targeted him 35% of his pass attempts.

Is Dawson allergic to using the TE? Arroyo was supposed to be a superstar and he never plays. Riley Williams is a major mismatch, and he rarely plays. I've never seen an offense that ignores the TE like this offense does. Love X but start spreading the ball around and include the TEs!
Arroyo has been injured and I believe he is still not 100. I think he still needs time and shouldn’t be playing yet but I’m just speculating. He didn’t look good last night.

Riley will be a first round pick when it’s all said and done. Hopefully, he continues to get more snaps.

Imo Mario has a big hand in whats going on with te. My biggest fear was bringing in an air raid guy and Mario melding it more to what he wants. I mean Cam is an OL that brings no advantage to the pass game. Football is about matchups.

"My biggest fear was bringing in an air raid guy and Mario melding it more to what he wants"

If this is indeed what is going on them he is doomed and will go down in flames. Definition of insanity. I truly hope that's not what's going on.

Riley will not be a 1st round pick sorry. Not with this staff

So what was the purpose of him dressing & playing sparingly if he’s not fully healthy?

Jaleel Skinner has been 10,000% healthy all year, the kid does’t play & it’s not because of some off the field issue.

The evidence is staring you guys right in the face & has been all season lol

The skinner point is fair but from what I’ve read, he’s had bad hands in practice. Don’t know how true that is but that’s one excuse. The other is that he’s a crappy blocker and this offense has a minimum bar of blocking it asks for. I maintain that you can be a good blocker and a good WR simultaneously and that’s what Dawson is looking for. How that translates into skinner never seeing the field and likely a portal candidate, j have no idea. lol

I thought he was injured and still working his way back.

I thought he was a true freshman and is being gradually worked in.

It's not easy having an offense that uses a TE when you don't have a functional TE.

Of all the things going wrong, the lack of TE is far down on the list of priorities.
Arroyo was dressed and ready to play. Half a season and 2 targets is def gradually.

idk... getting worried TE recruiting will dry up if we don't get them more involved..
