where is the banner troll?

Yeah, I'm sure they're shaking in their boots over an antiquated banner protest.

The University of Georgia signed up 1,100+ new members to their Magill Society in 2018—a minimum $25,000 donation—equating to at least $27,500,000 from alumni / fans; on top of all the other alum and fan driven donations that helped build the $200,000,000 invested into their athletic department over the past year.

Meanwhile Miami has fans threatening to boycott a barely 2/3 full stadium and doing GoFundMe campaigns to raise $495 for a banner fly. One of these two things is not like the other.

The day Miami alum multiply in numbers and start writing five and six figure checks in droves; that's the day you'll see a different looking athletic department.

As an alumnus, I am feeling defensive. Lol. We have a wealthy alumni base. I would say perhaps the school needs to just work a bit harder getting us to donate more. I give the same amount each year. I don’t remember anyone ever politely explaining to me why I should consider increasing it.

The banner thing and the go fund me thing isn’t fan base driven. It is a few message board people who are fans.

That almost assuredly didn't happen, but it makes for an entertaining story.

"Hi banner company, it's me again, listen I've rethought this whole thing and instead of, '**** your own faces,' I'd like to go with, 'Yay, go team.' Yeah, totally me again. Same guy."
Lmfao let’s pretend it happened

There are so many things that put UM fundraising versus other schools at a disadvantage. Using UGA as an example, we can start with how many other major universities does GA have? I can only think of one, GTECH. While Fla has the big 3, plus several that are on the cusp of being a major, as far as Football is concerned. UM can never catch up to the alumni base of the other schools. Larger alumni base means more dollars, even if the amount of the donation per alumnus is small. With so many schools after donations now and fan base divided the donor dollar is at a premium. It is not like the past, where UM had Sofla all to itself. Now, UM has to split fans who once might have donated to UM with FAU and FIU just in the Miami area.

Another reason UM has a money problem. Other schools, for the most part, have an on campus stadium, while UM has always had to rent/lease a stadium. Plus add in the costs of all the security people and all of the ushers, ticket takers, ect., ect. Since the contract with Hard Rock is not available to the public, as far as I know, I am not sure if UM gets a cut of the food/drinks and the apparel sold.

You can add in the fact that previous administrations, and the current one, have screwed over the Athletic department in so many ways.

No, it will be done flying an hour before the game.

The banner thing jumped the shark a long time ago. And by a long time, I mean decades. Nobody cares. It's a really stupid look.
A fuc**** waste of money, and a negative in welcoming recruits and parents to games. Also offensive to fans before the game.
We should be able to tailgate in peace.
