Where do Pro Bowlers come from?

If you're talking about positions where speed and athleticism are required, then So Fla is Valhalla. If you want the big hosses in the trenches, not so much. Suggest Polynesia (or the "Little Samoas" in West Coast urban areas) might be option #1 and 1a as places to look for them. Then, maybe add in some good Midwest livestock (as on display in the recent OB mauling).

My conclusion is that you should post less.

Yeah, maybe we need another guy who uses terms like natty in every other post. And several times in some posts. That's the ticket.

Maybe we need someone who takes every 5th round talent and pretends they are 3nd round, just because he's a Cane, and takes a 3rd round talent and pretends he is 1st round.

Guys who run down the forthcoming schedule with nothing but, "we'll dominate...we'll roll..."

There are a ton of guys here who fit that template. And it is indeed laughable.

I don't mind someone who may slant slightly the other direction.

shut the fvck up gary

What state is Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken from?

Are you suggesting that we stop recruiting the Josh Jobes, Dalvin Cooks, Sony Michels and Patrick Petersons, because you're afraid of losing them? That's a fragile mindset, and anybody who thinks like that shouldn't be coaching at the University of Miami.

I'm just saying not to recruit a roster full of divas. I prefer no nonsense, hard working ballers who aren't scared to compete. 2 stars. 6 stars. Whatever. Sure recruit Jobe. If he wants to play the game, save a spot (maybe) and move on.. but I'll take Derrick Smith's any day. More Bandy's less Henderson's. Over diva recruits. Meant that more than generalizing all SoFla kids. I'd rather recruit & go the redshirt/develop method then go for the 3 & out guy.

I want a break down of Alabama and Georgia's roster.

I can give you a breakdown of their offensive touchdowns scored on Monday- 2/3 of them (six out of nine) came from South Florida guys. And since the topic of this thread is the 2018 Pro Bowl, South Florida produced as many Pro Bowlers as the entire state of Georgia and more than the entire state of Alabama.

Tuscaloosa and Athens are over 600 milles away from Miami. Alabama buys billboards and flies helicopters to recruit down here. We can just drive. That's why South Florida is so relevant to us.

Nobody in this thread-- not even OP-- has tried to dispute that South Florida is the densest, most fertile recruiting area in the world. It is objective fact. If that point is conceded, what point are you guys trying to prove?

It's not about proving a point. It's about learning something, and having a discussion based on facts. I think looking at real data, even if I list a guy from Texas twice or read "Ontario CA" as "Ontario Canada" rather than "Ontario California".... it adds value.

Having looked at all this plus the other threads over the last few days (number of all-americans at elite programs, depth at the DL at elite programs, Draft Data by region, productivity of 3-stars around the country, etc).... the conclusion I've drawn is that South Florida is roughly comparable to the entire state of Ohio in terms of talent.

So I look at Ohio State as a great blueprint for how an elite Miami ought to manage our roster. That is, in terms of numbers and how our depth chart ought to look with respect to local vs national recruiting. OSU have their backyard locked down, and they get most of the top guys in that state. But they supplement that with strong national recruiting. Grab 4/5 stars from out of the area (coming to FL for Joey Bosa, Taron Vincent, etc). They don't take many projects. They don't do favors to local high school coaches - their program is respected locally. They have proper depth at key positions (such as DL), and their star ratio is top 5 in America.

That's what a winning Miami program looks like, to me. When we're doing it right. Get 80% of the 4/5 star kids in South Florida, but don't neglect national recruiting either.

Richt has done a good job recruiting South Florida, pending the AH kids and what they decide to do. He's done an outstanding job in North and Central Florida - I can't remember us ever pulling as many elite kids out of Jacksonville, Tampa, and butt**** middle Florida as Richt has done. We've gotten our Brevin Jordan's from out of state... though we need more of that IMO.

I think this staff has the right blueprint. And I think everyone on this board understands where our depth is thin and where we could really benefit from going out of state for a blue-chip prospect (DT).

The “3 and out” guys are for the most part the best players on the team every single year.

You don't leave after 3 years to go in the 6th round or undrafted, you leave to go in round 1 or 2.

Are you attempting to respond to my post or is your programming off?

OSU star QB and running Back Tx, OKIE heisman QB and most players are TX, Bama QB TX, only Georgia was the rare top team with out a Tx play caller. Longhorns with a top 3 class. I'm just saying of course lockdown S.Floridians, but don't be so blind to miss on a sure fire stud anywhere.

Nobody gives a **** about UT’s class. Go post on their board.

Funny how i don't remember any Miami fan saying at the time we would regret not recruiting Xavier Rhodes. Dude went to FSU too and no one said anything about it. LOL

Antonio Brown was a 2 star or lower. I can only imagine the reaction if we had recruited him.

I did.

Majority of the impressive players in the mnc are s. Fla guys.

Riley Ridley, Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Baker, Isaiah Wynn, Sony Michel, Whyms, it's like a show right now.

The problem is that Miami isn't Ohio. It's not Pennsylvania or Maryland or Alabama. Kids don't grow up surrounded by people who all root for 1 team, so they don't necessarily dream of playing for Miami. It's not a homogeneous city or state like many others.

I expect Richt to get the best guys from the area, but he's gonna have to fight a lot more than than saban or meyer do because a lot of kids haven't been brought up Miami fans. Nothing gets handed to you in SFLA.
